From what I have seen of turkeys in the Philippines, it is a whole lot of feather and very little bird. Good luck fattening them up, hope you succeed.
Hence why I am after the (Broad breasted White) which is a breed that is on most tables back in the West...and yes they are here. I found a Family that has one as a Pet. A male that is 14lbs approx. They said they got it from a Family friend that found it in Bacolod. My other choice would be the Bronze Breasted Turkey. These varieties have short breast bones and therefore grow extremly wide meaty breasts. Sure I will find what I want sooner than later,
@Happy Camper I should give you a troll rating, don't you realize I'm selling my turkeys on here. I will give you a chance to delete your post.
We all know that your turkeys will be well-fed - my follow-up comment to Happy Camper was about the fact that people in this country tend not to respect animals, pets or otherwise, and they look skinny because they are not fed well. This generally is not an alien trait - we respect animals and care for them, giving them a good life, whether as pets or for the table. So be assured, I cannot think of anyone who would doubt your integrity and the care you place in your turkeys.
You can give me any rating that you please. My post was not directed at you as I did say good luck to you in your endeavor. I was merely making a statement from years of observations of turkeys here in the Philippines. Again, I wish you luck. But I will not delete a post that was not directed at you personally nor meant to be disparaging in anyway.
I intend to have all a 4500sqm farm can muster (except Pigs). The 4 workers I have do it all for me, including sales. I have never been left holding the bag yet, so I keep on Truckin as they say despite the current events. Cheers!
