Silliman University Elementary School Kids fair

Silliman University in Dumaguete City celebrates its 114th founders day this year 2015 with the theme Via, Veritas, Vita: Now and Always. To give you a little information, Silliman University was founded last August 28, 1901. Silliman University is the very first christian school in the whole Philippines. It is also one of the most famous school here in our country. line with this founders day event are series of activities that usually starts every August 20. From batch reunions, meetings, family day, hibalag booth area, parades, kids fair, parties, dance contests, programs and the search for miss Silliman and Mr Hibalag. In this article, I will write about the Kids Fair activity in the Elementary Department. The kids fair or the family day is mainly about family bonding and recreation. The parents and teachers in each grade level would give their best shot in making their booth because it is also a contest for each grade level. Every booth also has a food stall and they would have different gimmicks like a film showing, a zip line, bike rentals, games, face painting and many more. This event happens every year. The children would prepare several production numbers to entertain their parents and family members. The teachers would also organize some singing and dance contests to give the children a chance to show their hidden talents. Whats more special about this event is that everyone can enjoy the spirit of founders day with their love ones. From each grade levels booth, they would design their space with several artistic designs with the theme from Silliman University Founders Day. Kids and teachers would also help them prepare.

Different Booths

Family Day has always been a fun activity ever since. I can truly say that it is very memorable because I was once a student of Silliman University. As far as I can remember, every year I always get excited with this up coming event as it will be the time where I can bond and spend time with my family and siblings. Especially my parents who has a very busy schedule. At the same time, I can enjoy games and buy my favorite food. From cotton candies, popcorn, sweet corns, hotdogs, candies, ice cream, shakes and many more. I also like to go horse back riding every time I visit the event. I know for sure that the feeling of the kids are the same as mine. As a matter of fact, even up to now, I still get excited for this event. I always make sure I can visit the Elementary Department yearly. It is always a great feeling to visit and come back to my old school and join the fun activity that I used to be a part of. The nostalgic feeling is always present. As I recall all the good times I use to have in my elementary days. There are so much more activities in the founders day week that I can share with you.
