I've been to Boracay once.....and I will never go back. Crowded, rooms/drinks/food are way too expensive, pushy street vendors, the little town on the island is a cesspool, locals are arrogant and rude, the ferry getting there is overpriced and a hassle, once off the ferry you have to deal with getting an extremely overpriced trike ride, any side activities you could sign up for are at least triple the going rate anywhere else in the country, need to learn Korean or Chinese to talk to any other tourists, police stop you from building a sand castle.....but you can pay some little snots a ridiculous amount to build one for you, can't drink/eat on the beach. I'm sure there is a lot more I hated about being there that I have forgotten. The only thing positive I remember about Boracay was when I got on the ferry to leave that crap-tourist-trap of an island.
Never been to Palawan myself but from what I've heard it is much better than Boracay and is a much better value.

Don't forget to check out @the Coast Guard before passing through the 2nd gate to enter the restricted area.
Going to Ozamiz is turn to the left when you reach the highway. The road is for the most in pretty good condition and generally few traffic though slow trucks can be bothering when an overtake action cannot be performed due to oncoming traffic or winding roads with curves. From Ozamiz to Tangub I cannot give you any recommendation.- Informative x 6

Finding a "nice" girl is always a challenge. Keeping her is a continual work. A lasting relationship has to be built on trust and respect in my opinion. As a parent who wants to have nice children, one has to learn to say and accept no as answer sometimes. If neither one can accept being told no, then the relationship is doomed to fail. Nobody gets everything.

Proceed with caution. You may have requests to send money, probably not the nice girl you are looking for. Families here are very close and many daughters feel an obligation to support their families, and that expectation increases significantly if they have a foreigner partner. Just the way it is.

For anyone who is driving to Cebu, The Maayo ferry added an early morning service yesterday. It leaves at 4:30 am and unloads on the Cebu side just as dawn is breaking. That meant I got a great ride as far as CarCar with next to nothing on the road as far as traffic. Breakfast at MacDonalds in CarCar at 7:45 and then traffic from CarCar to the city, but the trafffic was moving at a good speed so still a great trip.
I don't know how long Maayo will keep that 4:30 am trip operating. Not many on it yesterday.- Informative x 3
