Can anyone help please? Went to check my emails a couple of days ago (Outlook Express) and for some reason OE is asking me for my username and password (which are already filled in on the popup box.) I press OK and it refuses me. There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'pop.1and1.co.uk', Server: 'pop.1and1.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR authentication failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92 The above is the message I get. Why is it doing this to me after 3 years of no problems? This is Al Clegg - News at 10.00 a.m. - Dumaguete - rather p****d off - handing back to the studio. Al.
Hey Teach, sometimes this is a problem with the authentication on the e-mail server itself and not you or your computer. I would double check that the userid is right and then erase the password and re-enter (making sure you still rememeber it). If it still does not work I would call the ISP and let them know. Hopefully customer service will get you straightened out. I have found that when things go wrong and you are sure you have not changed anything on your end then it is typically an issue on the other
Try not to change the setting of your Outlook Express (see also rmlupu on email-server). Do you use Firewall? Be sure that it allows (not blocking)Outlook Express to retrieve and send emails.
Thank you so much for your advice guys - it is REALLY appreciated. I shall try what you say. Watch this space. Al.
