I'm thinking it may be best for you (yabs) and your alter ego (Sirenna) to talk amongst yourselves.

    Hello Yabs

I will remind you that the corral died because of the thyfoon last november.
Yes and the corral to 10 meter deep are damaged very bad and the pink wall fell down.
So this has nothing to do with the divers over there, and i have seen it because I come there twice a year.
And when I see your replys on this item and the item about discrimination it seems to me that the best thing for you to buy your own Island.
An island where you can do what ever you like and no one can disturb you.

    Greetings J.Diver

yes typoons will have a bad influence but so till will all the tourists and their sewage which goes out untreated
indeed thsats the only way in this vastly overpopulated world is to buy your own island.
you may think i am bei ng extreme bbut its because i care about the marine envt.
mark my words if the worlds population growth and related pollution
is not controilled soon then we will not nbe leaving much of a world to the next generations

tfa1957 appears to think that Yabs and I are the same person, simply because we have similar views about protecting the environment! Well, I can assure you that we are not!
Regarding Carabao, yes I have written about the situation there (as have other people) but as a foreigner very few people are interested in our views.
I saw a good quote the other day though, I think it was in the Panay News, saying that no-one should be touting Carabao as the "next Boracay" - they should be using it as an example of what NOT to do!

good to see you back Sirenna
remind us again who is building this airport!
buidling an airport there is utterly stupid
it doesn't look big enough for a road let alone an airport
the whole island will thus have to be cleared
is it worth seeing before it is ruined for ever?
why on earth is A anybody irresponsible to want to do this
and why is it being allowed?
    Its crazy

It's not your interest in protecting the environment but rather the way you choose to express your views. They tend to be divisive rather than unifying. I want you and Yabs to remain part of the forum because I believe you do have positive information to share.
The deplorable environmental record of the Philippine government needs to be continually put out in the open where everyone can see it. Years ago I believed that the government would never allow Boracay to become polluted or over-developed because it was such a treasure for the nation. Obviously I was wrong and as you say, it should now be an example of what NOT to do.
Here is the 2005 Scorecard for the Philippines. It's somewhat large (2.59MB) but it's very revealing.

I think as visitors, permanent residents or just forum members, the government has made it explicitly clear that, unless your a native of the Philippines, they do not want unsolicited input on anything to do with their country. I know it may seem difficult for most of us to understand that, but with it being their country, they need to seek out the advise they feel they need. Letter writing campaigns from non-natives basically builds up even more resentment for foreigners who are or want to live in the Philippines. It makes foreigners look like they know best what to do with everything concerning the islands. So, as much as people wish to write to the Philippine government, if your not from there, then I think it actually harms the relationships between goernment officials and foreigners. Those same government officlas have families and the trickle down theory applies. As much as you or I may be concerned for environmental issues, I firmly hope that the Philippines make the right decisions, and also know, it is not appropriate for us to tell them what and how to do development unless asked by the government. Now what's the chance the goernment is going to ask any of us on here for that advice? I do believe that development will happen in leaps and bounds in the Philippines, and mistakes will sometimes happen, but I know that in the long run, those mistakes will be learned from, and adjustments made. But hey, that's just my 2 cents worth of views.

    Sirenna/Yabs,

Yup, I certainly do think your both one and the same. With you coming to your own rescue under this particular topic two times for vague reasons and the style of typing, I think it would be as safe a bet as you/yabs/Sirenna being a geophysicist. But again, that's just my opinion, and if I'm wrong then, i'd be stunned for a brief, very brief moment and then move on. Now, how important is that with you having two id's, and a false job description on the whole scope of my personal life?, Not even a shadowy dot in the memory bank.
