You quoted my post but did not follow the link... you can see all prices there...

anyway just got a YM from Katrina, Nicanors lovely manager that Nicanor offers 7 standard rooms for smokers in the 5th floor. That makes the Hotel for many even more valuable... at least for some of us :D

they still suffer from a small issue with globe that also their 421 - numbers are not available at present

First off, if you're earning in dollars or euro, then a thousand pesos is peanuts. Note that Hotel Palwa, though clean with good service, is located in what literally passes for an alley, right beside a thriving gas station, and a stone's throw away from the market (not good, if you're veering away from traffic and noise). Hotel Nicanor is new and located in between the city's main street and the boulevard, but still more of a downtown (busy) area, with again, no view to speak of. Most nice restos and bars are on the boulevard, so I would choose Bethel, where I know I can walk to and from my hotel at any time of day, without fear of getting mugged. However, if you are a smoker who likes to smoke in your room, then Bethel is not for you, as the hotel doesn't allow smoking or drinking on the premises. Consider Florentina Homes instead, it's new, their resto Gabby's Bistro the coolest, quaintest spot right now, and decent, especially if you're traveling with kids. This is located 5 minutes from the airport, on the more quiet fringes of town.

Oh Please do tell us about the view at Florentina? and as far as Gabby's it seems like a cheap knock-off of a pisspoor attempt at a 1950's era road side diner on a back highway in West Virginia

Yes, Hotel Nicanor at present is still addressing some opening issues but I'm pretty sure that once they have sorted out the kinks that are inherent to any new place opening they will be a force to contend with.

Location wise it is perfect for sales agents, weekenders and the like who want to be exactly in the middle of the city. Finally after all those years, that space has been put to perfect use. I've heard some concerns from land travelers about possible guest parking issues especially during peak business days.

Bethel has always been the hands-down choice for families because of its location not to mention that it is also one of the most widely advertised hotels in our town. Smokers frown at their policy but they do have a lovely viewing deck that you can puff away to your hearts content.

    just my 2 cents.

Um, I beg to disagree. This one reminds me of soda fountains of old, and I don't see any rednecks hanging around!

Having stayed in Bethel very long term-many times, I've come to the conclusion something about its' aircon system must be spreading colds around the hotel. It seems if one guest has a cold, everyone has it within a few days.

I'd be interested if people staying in hotels in Dgte that have window/wall type aircon rather than central air like Bethel has notice many of their fellow guests getting sick within a short time frame, or does the individualized aircon help stop the spread of colds throughout the building.

Bethel is one of the few hotels not offering heavy curtains to block outside light, including the hotel's own lights that were installed 3 yrs ago to highlight the building at night but also shine light into the outside rooms. There's nothing to stop any light from waking you up with the roosters..

    bethel for me

if i may suggest, bethel has a better view. and the rooms are bigger compared to Palwa. Palwa has no "view value". =)
