Recently have noticed there are many birth certificates having errors, such as typing, spelling and other minor errors.

The mistakes have to be corrected for various reasons..passports, schools, work etc.

In order to correct the mistakes a fee must be paid to the office that made the mistake.

The amount of the fee to correct the error is according to needs of the birth certificate holder. Some cases an attorney must be retained.

If the office made the error..why does the citizen have to pay to fix it?

... or the parents which did not look at it when issued.Back then it would be corrected for free.

BTW, that is an answer one of my relatives got in Germany one year after his daughter was born and they finally found out the mistake.

    Error "Birth Certificate"

an simple error like this, it cost a fortune, time and effort to fix.

because u know why? you have to go to the National Statistics Office (put up the long line and not friendly government employees) and filled out some kind paper work requesting a copy of your "Birth Certificate". if not enough, u will hire an attorney to make u an "Affidavit of Authenticity" pls correct me if am wrong (word Authenticity).

One has to wonder if the errors on birth certificates.. are made on purpose..not saying they are but..

Noticed on a female birth certificate..for sex..the word male was typed..it will cost 10,000 pesos to correct it. A wrong letter will cost 500 pesos.

Yes, sometimes I think they made it on purpose, in a way to make money "again".
Sad to say...corruption is there! Philippines has the lowest lowest growth rate of economy from the rest of countries in asia. :( what a shame

Some of the errors may be more out of ignorance. Asawa ko had her last name misspelled on her birth certificate by the midwife that delivered her. When she signed her name at school they corrected her spelling even though she was spelling it the way the birth certificate was spelled. Then they issued the diploma with the incorrect correct spelling...Hope that made sense.
After graduation she wanted to take the teachers exam but because her birth certificate did not match the diploma she had to go through the mess of getting affidavits and such.

The more I have learned from her about the bureaucracy I think its not just corruption, its that there really is no system to properly identify the citizens. The mess just keeps getting worse at it goes along.

Sad to say but that's true. Its the person who will suffer. That's why if your wife gift birth and you will be registering the name. best to check it twice while its still with the hospital.
I have a cousin and the same problem. In his diploma and school record its different. And what they did just get a joint affidavit that the name in the birthcerificate is the same person. And it work...
    Everything was fix.
