Totally agree - hindsight is easy - made easier by armchair generals, experts and analysts we always see on TV :p and us discussing this at the comfort and safety of our computers.

I mean no disrespect - just writing out loud my thoughts - after all, isnt this the concept of a forum

Had a passenger knowledgeable about guns was packing, he could have taken out the hostage taker while his back was to him, 3 yards away or less - that is no guarantee but chances are there would be less than 8 dead tourists. If one couldnt hit a target at 7 yards or less, he has no business owning a gun much less packing it. :D

VTech massacre, had teachers/students been allowed to carry, there'd be lesser than 30+ people dead (again, not guaranteed but fatter chance), the gunman would have been taken out earlier. Allowing carry dont mean itd make people trigger happy . If that were true, campuses across Utah would be littered with corpses by now. :D

A curse if a gun is in the wrong hands, a blessing if it prevents further carnage. A bad guy would think twice opening fire if he *thinks* some of the intended victims are armed - in this case, a preventive measure, if you will.

    Tourists!

 I wonder just where this thread is going. This Incident was about a disgruntled EX-POLICEMAN trying to prove a point. WHAT Tourist in there RIGHT mind carries a Firearm? For as GOD made little Green apples, I don't want to be anywhere near Them. I disagree TOTALLY that a Gun Packing tourist would have made any Difference to the Situation. HE! was a man on a mission, they are the most unpredictable people in the World.:(

Do we think that a Gun packing Tourist would have made any differnce to 7/11

Might have done, depends what happened on that day. But I don't suppose it would have made any difference to 9/11 ............

Tourist packing guns - I was way off on that one :p .. should have probably meant driver or staff.

On 9/11, if there were armed air marshals (like they do now), that would have been a totally different story - it may have prevented 4 crashes, we'll never know for sure. For sure, those terrorist wouldn't have used El Al

True, this discussion dont belong here .. should have been a different thread .. sorry.

People tend to make comments like " Oh that shooting incident will ruin the tourist trade or tourists might carry firearms, well I would say that anywhere where that is so is really NOT a tourist destination and I do not consider the Phils as being a tourist country. When you see the travel Progs Philippines is not mentioned. So Phils tourism and guns do not go together. I agree with Jack that being British that carrying a gun is totally alien to us, but I do feel SAFER when in a Bank or store or somewhere and see Phils security packing hardware why? because the Phils is not a tourist spot, as much as people might like to think it is. Many people go to the Carribean for holidays BUT they do not venture out of the hotel complex and wander around downtown Kingston. Even USA have had problems with tourists on self drive holidays getting lost in a downtown area of somewhere and getting mugged robbed or killed even when just asking for directions, also carrying guns....I recall a Scot knocking on a front door in the US (as you do here in UK) trying to ask directions and was shot by the owner as he thought he was an intruder, so firearms...if you carry any..then you will be using it at some point, for Americans I think it easier for them to carry as they have had at least some military training but as for anyone else? BUT I do notice Americans because of their military upbringing are quite agressive and like to talk about guns, ammo, missiles, bombing, specs of weapons, etc etc, so it sort of makes you like that? Dunno just my opinion

About a foreigner shooting someone in the Phils? I think when you stand in court the law will be stacked heavily against you..but of course you will be bribing everyone in there won't you? as you have loads of cash...well at least thats what THEY will hope.
