Being from Texas, we got a lot of "winter-time visitors" from the northern US states. One of the popular bumper stickers in Texas was "We Don't Care How You Did It Up North".
I have very carefully refrained from saying here "this is how we do it in the US". That doesn't apply here. I am NOT in the US. I am in the Philippines now. And I try to adjust to the way things are done here.
I fully agree with Rhoody in the fact that this site should be for the exchange of information and not for the purpose of trying to change policy or the way things are done here.
If I wanted things to be the way they are in the US, I'd still BE in the US.
As for this particular site, in the some odd 9 months that I've been a member, I have had countless very helpful hints about everything from the LTO laws to my wife giving me my nightly bath and my pedicures. These are things that this site has helped me adjust to in the shortest amount of time possible. And I thank everyone here for all of that. I have learned to "fit-in" in a very short period of time here.
A true democracy is one that does what the majority wants done. Not always the correct thing, but the popular thing, by the majority.
So things don't always make sense here, such as the helmet laws, and many other things.
There are many things that are law and/or done here that I don't agree with, but I acept them because the majority agrees.
In reality, there are some opinions stated here that I don't agree with, so I just stay out of the conversation. The latest one being a topic on gun ownership here. I'm from Texas and we have very different thoughts on gun ownership which I will never debate with anyone.
I guess the point that I am trying to make is that we are all different. We are from different countries. We have different opinions. And we all find ourselves here in the Philippines NOT because we were forced to come here, but because we wanted to come here.
I have made a lot of friends on this site and have learned more than I could have otherwise, and I thank everyone for that, in particular Rhoody for having this site.
In Texas, every July, there is a biker rally in Austin called The Republic of Texas Rally (ROT Rally). About 1 million bikers show up for the 5 day event, most of them Harleys.
You can walk through the fair grounds looking at 50,000 plus motorcycles at
any one time, and no two look the same. We are all different.......thankfully.
Such is the case here on this site AND here in the Philippines.
And.....just as in my design of my Harley, I'm sure not everyone will agree about this thread.......

Some things are done here that (almost) no one agrees but rampant exist, for instance corruption.
