garbonzo, I'm a pc user, have been ever since and I haven't encountered any major faults with it. I do my banking, buy stuff etc and so far *knocks on wood* :D no problems at all. I think as long as one is vigilant and not just open any messages from anyone they don't know, or go to those "questionable" sites :D then one's computer is safe.

Progmeister, I'm glad you've been ok. Many, if not most PC users would be fine too if they kept their anti-virus software, and Windows updates, religously updated, and never ever opened anything suspicious, stayed away from potentially damaging websites, etc....Frankly Windows XP had more holes than Patpong....and I hope Vista turns out far less embarrassing...

But with a Mac....you almost don't need to worry....basic anti-virus software for Macs that'll likely update about once a fortnight..if that..due to the low threat level. Very unlike Windows...where exploits flood out...several a day...or more...If you're sitting in a Moscow basement writting a key-logger..will you do it for PC's with over 90% of the market...or Macs with around 3-4%...??

I wish you continued success and safety with your PC...I hate to see anyone buggered by these mobs...but me and mine will rely on Macs for the peace of mind, and pleasant operating they provide...

    Friday Morning here

and I just caught up with the post. Back in 2001 when I got my Mac, I though WHO that was a lot to pay for a computer but it did not take to long to figure out that I had really got a bargain. So I guess one gets what they pay for, value wise that is. I only took this Mac to the shop one time and that was to have all the software up dated. I had dial-up at snail speed than and had got far behind in my software updates. After I got DSL the Mac dose a "software update" every day automatically in the back ground. I was told by the man selling it that the new G4s were indestructible, I did not believe it than but do now. I think I would have to put it in a house fire in order to damage it. It dose not take very many windows machines to have the price of a Mac in THEM. How many trips to the repair shop before you have the price of a Mac in them and when you get it back you still have a "windows" machine. I had better quit I'm beginning to sound like a MAC salesman.
P.S. I guess no one in Oriental has a Mac. There is a Mac store in Bacolod and at least one in Cebu.
    Jim
