gjj, I think you are spot on.
As for those suggesting having very little and only crap so nobody wants to steal it, that may be acceptable to some, if that is the lifestyle you wish to live in your "golden years". For me, that is not what I worked for all my life, I believe there is a better balance. My house may be a target for the shitbirds, but the bullseye is on them. I will do whatever is necessary to protect my family and property and I'm sure the majority of you will as well.

    Correct!

Pat, I do agree in full, just needs you to discover the best defense for you.
I agree with you on GJJ's post, For me, my service days taught me, 'The best form of defence is 'ATTACK' , my dogs will do that for me if I am sleeping, the first Cut (Bite) is the deepest I heard on a song, I would not stay around for the second I can assure you. We are lucky to a Degree, in that, none of our dogs will take food from a stranger, Both breeds are sniffers so doping is a minor problem. Pat, I know you will get there in the end, so many suggestions, One HAS to work.

    Trigger happy

Just think of the consequences before pulling the trigger......
The moron might have a large family and friends all set for revenge....what next, high noon at the ok corral?
Believe me, you might win a battle but not the war....is it sleeping with a 9mm under your pillow what you've been working hard all your life for?
Reflect upon it before embarking on a shoot out.
I're right in defending your family and property, just do it the smart way....get to invite a few police/army top brass for a drink, explain your concerns...just their sight at your property will scare the shits out of the crooks, use flares tripwires to secure your perimeter, get an exhaust flame thrower kit :D a taser stun gun/stun baton....
Welcome to the downside of paradise, keep smiling!

Its better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have one.

That's my point, the bigger fish eats the small fish and not the other way round...once they see that the turf is taken, they'll look for greener pastures. Just get the balance right and get to the right people.
In the Phils is who you know that counts.
Stop being so negative you lot, the sun is still shining and not all pinoys are crooked.

Hmmm. My intelligence..thank god not personal experience ( quick story - two of us worked seconded to PAL from Litton outskirts of Manila...one ( not me) has his apartment broken into every couple weeks, cleaned out all gone, neighbours know squat....I stayed in a pension house - zero break-ins and no complaints - the owner's wife was friendly too...that was in the late 70's....LOL....BUT - I have heard many times - steer clear of local cops...they are ALL stupid, they are ALL corrupt...and once you make their 'acquaintance' out of 'need' they will be back whenever they need lechon and tanduay. Plus being incompetent thieves themselves......your protection is unlikely to improve much....

I'm confused, should I throw marshmellows at intruders or frags? LOL But if a turd is shot and his relatives come for revenge, I guess that answers that question.

From this forum, I have met members who are former marines, navy seal, Air Cav, Rangers, and few tough bikers. I believe most of them are armed and dangerous, just probably couldn't run after and catch anyone. lol
