LOL....my Jack Russell could likely out-run me.....but my eyesight and trigger control is still very good....all I need is an M-16....LOL....maybe the dumb-@ss bikers here will sell me one....Crime here has improved (ie less) lately anyway...

Seriously, I think the broad hint is....sell that beautiful house to some other dreamer on islandsproperties....and move to Guam....It's like the Philippines with about 5% of the bullshit....stay as close to Andersen as you can....Yigo and Dededo are good....

Or Hawaii and live local away from Oahu....can be done for a lot less than you think....get a small bit of land, ordinary house (weather is great and don't need much) grow your own veggies and fish....get her to work doing whatever....too easy...we're tempted ourselves....but can/are doing it here.

Or spend the rest of your life in paradise...LOL....plenty do it...Has its merits too.

Just another comment on befriending the local cops. Back in the '80s I had a very close friend on the police force in Talisay, Cebu. He was definitely not stupid but he was very corrupt. While i was offshore a bad guy was released from Montanlupa prison. He brought his gang and started a mini reign of terror, extortion theft whatever. He didn't just steal the engines out of bankas, he made the owner remove it and give it to him. This guy sent a note to mu wife, 10,000 pesos or something would happen to a family member. She went to my friend Bing the cop and he set up a plan to catch the bad guy. They cut up newspaper and put it in an envelope that was placed on a grave stone as instructed. The cemetery was surrounded by cops but it was a hot day and how could they stay there without beer. My wife had to provide several cases of beer for them. Needless to say this circus was a complete failure. Fortunately 2 days later the NPA delivered there own form of justice, 2 twelve gauge rounds and as the locals loved to tell the story the dogs ate his brains.

I would say that retaliation is an issue for sure and whatever measures you take that may injure or kill an intruder may come back to haunt you. I think a few years back there was a foreigner who got in some hot water for the electric fence. I think I read about here on this forum.

We have lived in what is considered a high crime area for almost two years and never had a lock on the gate until one of the wife's sisters started giving us trouble. Now the gate is locked at night.

"Good fences make good neighbors." - Forget the fancy design the builder insisted on installing so his brother-in-law would have easy access and get it finished right with broken glass, spikes, and my personal favorite, a bead of thick bearing grease that will add insult to injury. Nobody likes to get slimed by that stuff.

When I was working in the construction industry, We had homeless people that used our project as their thoroughfare at night and would hop the fence. Since barbed wire, razor tape and like would have surely brought litigation, I came up with the idea to grease the fencetops to see what would happen. One night we sat in the truck overlooking the fence line and watched a potential intruder get greased. As soon as he felt it he got back down and rubbed his hands all over his clothes out of disgust and walked away. Needless to say, we greased the whole fence line after that.

Living near the ocean is not exactly an advantage in Bacong.
Many of these burglars are imported from Mindanao.
And the favorite place to park there banca's is at the end of the street of PatO's house - at the seaside.

Someones been watching too many pirate movies. :D

I, and none of our neighbors ever had a single problem while living in Bacong, but then we didn't have the neon sign flashing vacancy and welcome either! :D

I put up a big sign on the front fence saying this house empty and said try this one, and put a map to Firefly's house.
