    Thanks Loftyone,
It made me going too late for my dive this morning.
Now I have to run. Great stuff.

Interesting wouldn't count Bruce asa blues guy by historical definition, but he is an awsome player. Love the jazzy Funk style he brought to TP.

I had the opportunity to see James Cotton two years ago in Toronto at Jeff Healey's club, before Healey moved from Bathhurst Street to downtown. Great shabby, perfectly small blues venue. Cotton(I hadn't seen him in 35 years), had to be led to the stage. but once seated, he took over the room, not missing a trick, and trading licks with his sidemen who were 1/3 his age.

It was incredible, not sure many of the trendy season ticket holders had a clue what they were wittnessing, but it was great. The young guitarist was a monster, easily as good as any blues guitarist you may have heard of, and that's the way it is in the music world, journeymen players hacking out a living in small clubs.

Cotton is a blues harmonica player if anyone was wondering, influenced Paul Butterfield in the sixties, and by that association was "rediscovered" Interestingly Cotton at 73 is still going strong, Both Butterfield and Jeff Healey are dead, Healey sadly this past year of cancer.

Yes RHB, Bruce Conte seems to have moved on from the old funk style of Tower of Power to the more traditional blues. I hope he is living in Cebu permanently as he will inspire a new generation of filipino guitarists and hopefully influence music tastes. You are lucky to have seen James Cotton. I remember his awesome harmonica playing on an old Muddy Waters record I had as a kid.

Even aussies can play the blues. Check out Perth's Dave Hole and his amazing left hand over technique. We've been watching him in a range of dives for nearly 30 years before he got "discovered" and moved to the US.

Before I get booted for being off topic I"ll throw one in for Rhoody. This is AC/DC with the great Bon Scott. Many places claim Bon as their own but he's buried here in Perth and we are building a statue of him.

Not an easy question Rhoody. Back in Black was released about 6 months after Bon died as a tribute to him. A lot of the songs are about him. Some say Bon's voice is on the title song Back in Black and there have been recordings surfaced which people claim are Bon singing B in B. That has been denied by the band.

There's also a debate here about whether Bon wrote the lyrics to some of the B in B songs including Given the Dog a Bone which is ausssie slang for having sex with an ugly chick. It's just so much his style. Bon isn't credited for writing any of the lyrics but given the songs since B in B have never been up to the old standard, my view is they used Bon's stuff.

    cheers

B in B has absolutely Bon's fingerprints. He is the man...
but also AC/DC could not find anything better than Brian Johnson, he is doing a fantastic job since 25 years or so.
By the way the song is the title Song Back in Black. Not the Album version. I have a rare and raw version with Bon Scott. PM me your email and I can mail you an mp3 of it if you are interested.

    cheers

Thanks Rhoody. My email address is loftyone@live.com.au
I'll buy you a few beers when I'm next in Dumaguete or if i see you at the Cebu Guitar festival in November.

Yes Bon was the man and right up there with the best rock and roll front men. All my neighbours within 500 metres are very familiar with my AC/DC music.

I agree Brian Johnson has done a great job as a replacement. But they lost the great wit of Bon's lyrics that was evident up until and including Back in Black. On the positive side Angus's guitar playing and stage act improved from bloody good to sensational after Bon passed.

Did you know that Bon was the tallest guy in the band at 165cm (or 5' 6" in the old measurements).

OK before this turns into an ACDC love fest and you two start dating...

How about some real trivia Green Onions (Booker T. and the MGs) was the hit, what was the flip side that never charted but was originally the A side?

Or name three guitarists that started with John Mayall, then went on to become the three most talented recognized of their rock genre? I'll take any three, there were actualy at least 6 who might fit.

Behave yourself was the 'A' side I think

    Clapton

Peter Green (one of the most underrated guitarists ever)

    Mick Taylor from the stones

    some more trivia

Which famous blues guitarist cannot sing and play the guitar at the same time?

Dave Hole was a great guitarist. I was working in France with some Aussies who had one of his albums, "The live one" I think it was. I had some friends from London bring me out whatever they could find on the man.

Houndog Taylor, another great slide guitarist, born with 6 fingers so he cut one off with a straight razor to help him play better

    Irelands best ever guitarist

Wanted by the Rolling Stones when Taylor left. Wanted by Deep Purple when Blackmore left.

One of very few musicians to play in Belfast during the troubles (for obvious reasons). Played with Muddy waters, Albert King.

How many other rock gods would let their fans get this close to them onstage

Great blues musician and rocker. One of the best ever slide guitarists!!
