Is Buddhism a religion ? I thought it was a philosophical belief system and Buddha was revered but not worshipped. Also I have never had a problem with showing my ignorance. I never met anyone who knew everything.

I don't know where it is you hope to go to,too KTM
But maybe it would be worth while for reader's of Bertrand Russell to read about Malcolm Muggeridge too

Is this an attempt at conversion?
I read the link and thought it was a bit boring and none too convincing.
Actually I don't see what this has to do with meeting atheists.

Which sort of "atheist" do you have in mind?

For those with somewhat different interests such as seem to have been expressed in the thread: There is at least one, weekly meeting, group of people who value free thinking in the city. But it is a small group. And most of the members seem to have settled on particular beliefs for themselves.

Bruce old chap it has nothing to do with directing anyone to meeting fellow atheist's.....but it was a reply to KTM's
" Why I'm not a Christian" by Bertrand Russell
However I think that maybe this thread was started with thought provoking intention's

@Brucewayne: A theist is someone who believes in god(s). Same root as in theology. Adding the prefix "a" changes the meaning to someone who does not believe in god(s). Many other prefixes / suffixes can be added to the root to change the meaning. So it's not a matter of the word originating from believers or non-believers.

I think all answers to the OP were given, the rest starts going in a direction which are not going with our guidelines on DI
