Long live our Majesty the Queen.
God bless the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, they are a great couple!
The Royal Family and all the pomp and traditions that go with it are the envy of many nations. Politics and politicians are rotten but the Royals are above it all.
    Cheers, Marco.

Jack, the quicker we get out of EEC the better. We are suffering from other EEC slackers.

Union Jack, corrupt politicians, and that includes most of them, left or right wingers. should not be near our royal family. long live the Queen.

A very well written article, factually and historically correct.

John Boy. My thoughts on Blair/Brown are exactly that; opinions and not politics.
For the 13 years, from 1997 to 2010, that they manipulated the country in accordance with their own agenda and dogma, we all saw standards and quality take a nose dive, and the longer they were there, the more determined I and thousands of others became to leave the country. Education standards were dumbed down, pupil power took over from teacher authority, huge queues formed outside of dentist surgeries because no one could get registered, casualties were left on trolleys in hospital corridors because they had closed wards, the police were swamped with targets to achieve so that a speeding offence and a rape got the same tick in the same box, and old people died of the cold in their homes because the meagre pension left them with a choice of heat or eat. That's not politics, that's hard, provable, uncomfortable fact.

They always dangerously spoke of being "in power" instead of being "in Office", they created hundreds of quangos' all staffed by their favourites and sympathisers and Blair introduced more than 3000 new laws. In one piece of crass legislation they raised the age of buying cigarettes from 16 to 18 claiming it was "in order to protect children". At the same time, with breathtaking hypocrasy, they lowered the age of consent for sodomy and buggery from 18 to 16 !!! How protective is that for children ?? That's not politics, that's appeasement of a small section of society.

Blair, in order to curry favour with Bush, took us in to two illegal wars, illegal because neither of them had a United Nations mandate. At the same time, Brown, who held the nations purse strings, starved the troops of funds. American footballers wore more protection on the sports field than our soldiers wore on the battlefield. Consequently the body bags and coffins of the fallen were brought home with increasing frequency. It's my opinion that both Blair and Brown should be tried for "Misfeasance in Public Office", and Blair should additionally stand trial at the Hague. That's not politics, that's neglect and a dereliction of duty.

With regard to my opinion of him being a traitor, one of the first things Blair did in 1997 was to scrap the Royal Yacht Britannia. With amazing arrogance, he then considered himself to be more important than Her Majesty, and discussed the possibility of having the equivalent of America's Air Force One for his own use. He used the Queens flight out of RAF Abingdon and RAF Northolt to take him and his freeloading wife on private holidays, while causing Her Majesty to take a British Airways flight with all the security dangers that that implied.
In the early thirteenth century, Watt Tyler led the peasants revolt, with the justifiable demand that there should be no taxation without representation. In 1215 King John signed the Magna Carta at Runnymede and that Bill of Rights served us well for 800 years. At a stroke, Blair wiped out those 800 years when he signed us up to the European Human Rights Act. Consequently, his lawyer wife has been able to make millions of pounds from the tax-payer funded Legal Aid Fund, representing failed asylum seekers in court to demand their human rights.
When I joined the military in 1961, part of my Oath of Allegiance was to "Her Majesty the Queen, her Heirs and Successors, and the Generals and Officers set over me". When I left 27 years later, that Oath and its' principles still held good, and have remained so to this day. Members of Parliament also take an Oath, and as an unashamed Royalist, I consider that if they use their elected office to undermine our established Monarchy then it is an offence. So I do feel that both Blair and Brown were traitors to the nation, and as such should be tried for treason. Now that's not politics, that would be justice.

I also believe that the only person ever to enter Parliament with honourable intentions was Guy Fawkes.!!!!

Parliament may rule with impunity, but Her Majesty reigns with dignity.

    But it's only my opinion.

Here you're wrong JB, my prime minister, the Honourable Silvio Berlusconi is in it for love......:D
Good thing I emigrated many years ago to the UK, a place which I now consider my home and to which I'm loyal......Italy's going down the drain and so the rest of Europe apart from strong economies such as Germany and perhaps France.
The EEC stinks, the Euro stinks even more, glad we stayed out of it. Brussels is controlling the destiny and lives of people without considering their culture, tradition and their national interest. The Human Rights Act has been abused by crooks and their legal representatives and should be scrapped.
