To see if I could find out the reason behind the problem I wrote to Cere on their Facebook Messenger. Here is what I wrote and with any luck, someone will respond:

EDIT: Just to add the link to the Facebook page I messaged. Looks like an official page for Ceres Bus on the route I questioned but it also looks like they have not posted there for a year so maybe not monitored.
Cebu South Bus Terminal -Vallacar Transit, Inc. - Ceres Liner

If anyone has a better way to contact them then let me know. If they do not like to answer I will ask the LTFRB the same question. Inquiring minds want to know why I have to sit with a back pack in my face so I cannot see the movie :-)

Try asking God for the answer through prayer. You are more likely to get a response.

I can only pass on from what I've heard so take it as that, but the busses have put in local alarms for once they go over a certain speed and are being "tracked" via GPS as well to make sure they are not exceeding that; this was done for concern of accidents due to speed. From what I've heard the buss drivers are expected to meet some expectations on time and passengers so they are jamming them in. Not sure if a lower speed with a heavier busload of folks is better but last time I was in the Philippines I did feel more comfortable with the drivers keeping things at a slower speed.

From Tanjay to Dumaguete we rarely see an aircon bus, so I would love to be standing on an aircon bus as opposed to standing on the others.

Still a cheap way to travel on Negros but agree I am not up for ferries again and would fly if possible if going to another island.

Are you like a lot of the locals and don't know how to swim? (Yet they all live within an hour from water.) I have no worries about riding on ferries, just need to work on my water combatives a bit more so that I can beat away anyone that tries to drag me to the bottom with them.

I did swimming lessons for two years when I was in elementary and at the end I COULD sink like a rock and walk along the bottom jumping up for air at intervals. I nearly drowned so many times in my youth, I swore I would never go near water again! Recently at the resort I thought I would try out the pool, people keep telling me because "I AM FAT I WILL FLOAT!" NOPE! Sank to the bottom! Water and I do NOT mix well so it is the Plane for me where a mishap will hopefully be an instant 'lights out' scenario versus Crabs Sharks and becoming today's Bait for Marine life...

The Ceres is the cheapest way to Cebu that's why imo, Supercat direct trips are gone. Now that the aircon trips have become uncomfortable a no standing allowed type of trip could be expected in the future at a higher price.

I'm willing to bet that a V-Hire company could fill a van and easily make money charging the same 200 pesos a head on the route I am talking about. All it would take is an entrepreneur willing to get some people to complain to LTFRB that more transport is needed on that route (Liloan port to Cebu). V-Hires are faster and everyone gets a seat. They are more cramped but better than the aircon busses when someone has his stinky arse in your face as he stands in the aisle (leans all over the seated passengers).

If anyone reads this and knows of a V-Hire service between Cebu and the southern end of the island, please let us know. I have heard rumors there is one but I don't know where it is so I suspect its a "used to be" thing or just wishful thinking.

Sorry; but if they are anything like the V-Hire that was near to the Ceres Bus Terminal when we caught one one day, I would rather walk! They charged us 360p each to travel from Dumaguete to Maluay in a stinky HOT Van with no Air-con and people packed in tighter than a can of sardines! NEVER AGAIN! Lesson learnt...

I have caught many V'Hires in different areas of Cebu and Leyte and each experience is different except that they do stick you in there like sardines and they do go faster than the Ceres bus (fewer stops and crazier drivers?) So your mileage will vary but I kinda like getting there faster. Fortunately, almost all the ones I was on have had the air conditioner working so you may have had one bad experience.

I guess this would be like a private Hire thing, Depot to Depot as I can't see them getting a Pick Up license? But......................:hmmm:
