hahaha... you mean to say some indeed live here and don't get their education and information from the 2-hour-free-coffee McDo crowd...

I don't see anything wrong with Mcdo or the 2 hour coffee if it's free.

On of the beauties about the Philippines is theres something for every budget. Perhaps I'll be in Macdonalds having free coffee and eating breakfast one morning.

Does that make me part of the "crowd" that's talked about in a derogatory manner? Why paint all the patrons with the same brush?

Well, it is like everywhere in the world, certain places attract a certain crowd and when you are here for two years (actually 2 hours there are usually enough). you will discover that there is the "ultimate wisdom morning crowd".

An of course it won't make you to one of that crowd, just to one with a horrible taste palate if you enjoy the coffee and breakfast there. :D

For a breakkie I like the Spanish Omelette at Bogarts or a meal at LeChalet actually. :-)

But, don't mind the occasional sausage muffin at macdo either.

I'll be new in town in july...where IS a good spot to meet expats to exchange ideas and pick from their expertise??

    Cheers,
    Mark

I actually think there is no real spot in Duma where expats meet. Each of that spots attracts a very specific group which are easy to characterize.

Those I trust and discuss with have no meeting point and I see them while roaming around. When I go to some "meeting-spots", I keep a looooot distance, just listen and observe, smile and move on... 15-30 minutes at that spots meet my demand for complaints and bu@#$@ing about things for a couple of weeks.

Own experience, being everywhere and nowhere, listening between the lines and you might get the best picture. You will learn more w/ inviting some more or less important local for a snack compared to having a couple of cold ones w/ expats at the Boulevard, market or McDo.
