    glamourpuss,

in spite of people going home, people will also be COMING home to Dumaguete....

And most of this people coming home are working somewhere else, probable overseas... so they would have the financial capability to shop for their family in Dumaguete.. (OFW's want to buy their parents, siblings things for the holidays..)

It might shock some of our valued readers, but the eality is that there is no christmas in Dumaguete this year.

Being in the right x-mas spirit, I went to a sales-lady of a local big store and asked her friendly if she could help me to find out when the birthday of Jesus Christ is.

The stunning answer was : Maybe in May !

hmmm not that bad… so I was very thankful and went on to ask the same question to another one. she got even closer with the answer : He is the lords son and has no birthday.

So what is the conclusion of that?

I will safe a lot of money this year as there is no x-mas in Dumaguete 2008 anymore. No need to buy presents and all that stuff. The only problem will be to explain that to my little one…

cheers and merry x-mas in advanced for may 2009

Rhoody ......"The stunning answer was : Maybe in May !" you said.
Maybe she knows the right answer:wink:
Maybe she was only checking if you realy did'nt know it :D
Since 2 months my CD player raffles those Christmas songs.
I do like Christmas ......I like snow (only with Christmas  ) but I hate to hear sooooo long before the actual day these songs.
I know.... I have to accept it (which I do more or less :D ).

Jelly, some more good questions are:

Why do we celebrate the holy week ...
What is the name of the pope ...

Give it a try on your next trip to the City when you sit down for a snack somewhere and ask the lady who serves you...

    cheers

Or the favourite "where does the pope live"

However what ever the answers to any such question, filipino's know how to celebrate Christmas, it's always that share the little food you have got and smiling and being happy even if money is very scarce. A time for the family to try to be together.

And new years eve is a wonderment of fireworks, dancing or being happy in the streets. I for one enjoy the holiday season not for the religious thing but for the happiness I also enjoy given and not the receiving.

I am not into religion but I am very much into the festive thing and I know I will enjoy xmas this year. As the months got a "ber" in it, merry pasco. Its not a time to make fun but a time to have fun and lighten up a few faces especially the kids.

... Filipinos don't know only how to celebrate x-mas, they know how to celebrate in general, whatever the reason is.

I don't think there is a country with more fiestas, festivals, family-reunions and and and....

It is a absolute pleasure for me to be part of that happiness...
