Would just appreciate to see your accounting-sheet Puti-tigbaw. Each has its own needs, pending on ones budget, but your Usd 750,= in the Phils, compared with 2500 euro in The Netherlands ( still around Usd 3.000,=) is a calculation which I cannot understand or confirm with.
    Regards

Ok i am to enthousiastic but if you deduct the dutch taxes mortgage heating expenses and water bills it will save you allready 650 euro. But how much in percentage would you guess the difference in income.

    40 % what would be 100 % in the Netherlands ?

Puti-tigbaw. It seems to be that you like to make comparisons between The Netherlands and The Philipines. This cannot be done... Ofcourse, you have your heating expenses (gasbill) but aquiring same confort in The Phils, count your aircons needed (Electric bill)
Know people here who say that they have a good live with Php. 35.000/month income. Know others who need over Php 80.000/month. It all depends on your way of living, the confort you wish, and , most of all, on your OWN budget. I might trigger some discussions here, but in my personal opinion a budget of around Php 70.000,=/month goes a long way. Again, if one owns his own property or needs to rent makes a huge difference. Counting your way in percentages is impossible, as we are talking 2 entirely different situations of which no comparisons can be made (in my humble opinion)

I can relate to that. I dont need the luxury lifestyle but an aircon to take the worse heat out of the bedroom ( 15 minutes) before sleeping is ok.

I once made the expression if u want to feel a king in the Philippines u need a good cr and bathroom !

Luxury for me is not working, ur own house there on a 1000m2 lot, having some chicken, and a vegetable garden a motorcycle to drive around things like that. And ofcourse 4 smb a day

I can live nice of 35000P a month.

The big houses cars and restaurants every night i dont need kirida is ok if she wants to pay me lol.

I dont have a big lifestyle here so i dont need to have there.

Self government is what i want.

So you see dear Puti-Tigbaw, you found the answers to your question by yourselves !! To be honest, I have my questions and doubts as one who is used to Usd 3.000,= a month spending power (read yr own posting) will now be able to have a good live on Php 35.000,=
Kindly submit your montly expense-sheet by the time your here. If you are right, then i need to talk my wife (!!) Wish you luck
    Regards

I am curious too. Seeing P35,000 really caught my eye. That is around $700/month. Actually worse right now due to the low exchange rate. I would be interested to see the standard of living on that much money. For those with a gf/wife, a woman can be expensive....maybe that is where the term "mahal" came from. :D

I don't live there yet but I've been around and also talked to people about their monthly budgets. My bilas for example runs a business out of his 2 bedroom townhouse-style apartment, has a housekeeper, assists two nieces going to school and his entire monthly budget including paying his workers is Php40000.
From what I can gather, what adds up quickly is paying rent, especially if you're close-in to a larger city. In Cebu City it seems many rentals are above 30K per month. That'll eat up your budget in a hurry.
My estimated monthly budget based on current conditions is 40-50K. That includes having a home that's paid for (no rent), purchasing local products as much as possible, and living pretty comfortably.

When i talk about 35.000P i keep in mind allready having a house and lot of my own.

The amount of 35K is what a filipino i know has every month as salary and he has a wife and 4 children.

If i look at my lifestyle here in the Netherlands and compare it with there then i consider 35000 should be sufficient.

Mainly because i dont have any expensive hobbies i dont need a helper in the house (i dont mind to do everything myself)

Most of our combined salary here in the netherlands goes in to mortgage / gas / water / electricity / insurences for healt house and car / food / daycare / petrol.... things like that.

But still a long way before i go there so i have time to think about it
