    Exactly!

Hi UFB, this is what I am up against, whilst Azon, is perfect in many ways, she is just not adept, to PC technology, I have tried to explain to her, it needs all, the cables taking out one by one, re-inserting, in the same port, maybe, just tweaking a little and blowing on the terminals, to free them of Dust etc. She gets annoyed. Am I on the right lines here??

    Hi Jack,
I forgot we are in the same time zone at the moment. Wasn't expecting a reply straight away!
Removing the cable(singular) is definitely worth a go. Dust shouldn't really be the problem because the pins make contact over a larger surface area than dust can cover.
Thinking about it, if the pc has been moved recently, the cable may not have been completely/correctly re-inserted, which would of course lead to a signal transfer problem.
She could also look at the pins on the connector and monitor to see if they all look alike. ie. if one or more is bent. This was my problem, and is a quite normal occurrence when people are often disconnecting & connection a laptop to a monitor or when they move home with their pc and pack & unpack & reconnect everything again.

Get her to first disconnect the cable and check the connections, and re-connect and re-start the pc. If the power save is still happening, she needs to go on the hunt for a spare cable & monitor and try them like I said before.
    Best of luck.
    Andy

There can be literally thousands of reasons for that.
When trying the wiring solution, only connect the cables really needed. (power, monitor, keyboard, mouse) Do not connect any USB (webcam, etc.) which uses additional power from the PC. you might even try powering the Monitor not from the PC but from the UPS or another outlet or start the computer with the monitor switched off and turn it on after the the "normal" boot time

Talking about UPS, a lousy UPS can cause a "bad caps plague" meaning some capacitors on your motherboard are busted (can't be fixed at home).

    Eureka!

:D Thank You all, for the help and Advice. It was the monitor to PC cable that was the problem, I got her to check the holding screws, Then the monitor end, she did not realise that it was a plug in, she assumed it was like the TV and the cable was fixed, When she tried that, she found that it was not pushed home into the socket. So my friends, all is well this morning. Strange, how a simple thing, can turn in to a mini nightmare. A big Thank you to all that replied.

    Good stuff!
Rhoody is right that there could have been thousands of reasons for the problem. But starting with the most common causes pays off more often than not.
