    on electrical supplies business

Yes, an electrical supplies would work. Currently, this kind of business in Dumaguete is being run by the old Chinese families with old style settings. A DIY shop is feasible here. Can say this with confidence because this was one aspect of the market study I made and submitted to Robinsons Place. In fact, their affiliate, Handyman Do It Best, will be one of the major anchors for the Robinsons Place Dumaguete. This will be your competition though. Most of the items that Handyman sells come from their partners in the U.S.

    Hi foxylady313
concerning the electrical business,it would be more doable for me if their is a reliable supplies of electrical parts. My experience mostly as electrical contractor pertains on electrical design, installations and maintenance and the greatest problem usually on the procurement of electrical parts and equipment. Most customers want to have a choice of which equipment they want installed acccording to their needs. Most supplier deals only with only parts and equipments . Installation, repair and maintenance are entirely different fields and thats where I come in.

Haven't seen this, thanks for sharing this picture Hokies ,very interesting.I've never seen what's inside the bee cages, apart from odd sliced honey comb that is put together with the honey. I don't mind experimenting on a few mainly for consumption.
    .....................

Business or monkey business might be interesting when we are younger. But if our time comes for the Philippines ,we'll probably not the same as energetic as now, more likely kind of shrunk , wrinkled, looking worn out over the yrs working ,bit slower ,perhaps with aches and pains .So living in the Philippines should be a relaxing venue .If investing on a business, something that don't get on us too much of our time and so much pressure than we can cope.Life's too short to get again into it .We'd like to travel ,maybe off for 6 months in UK / balkans ,summer time preferably ,mainly to see kids or furture grand children ,assuming they'll all be married here ,family bonding is important. Then back in the Philippines when the weather is cold and mesirable.Still long way, but just some hopeful thoughts.

    That's right pickled newt,

Business ventures that would be good for you and your type would exactly be just that. One that will not entail much personal involvement except to check on the money flow, income generated with sure and fast R.O.I. Look for a good investment and have the likes of Foxie as a consultant/adviser (that is if she has the time). I don't know her personally. Just met her on this site a couple of days ago, but she seems to be an expert and surely has a lot of local knowledge.

I'm setting up a company to develop real estate. I'm bringing in some knowledge I acquired from my trips to the US. I will be back in Dumaguete next week and will surely hook up with Foxie.

My family has properties and I also have access to some properties of friends in Dumaguete and the vicinity. I want to setup a one stop Real Estate Agency with Listings (R.E.A.L.) that would cater to those who want security and safety, aside from getting the best that money can buy. In fact, I'm starting a 3.6 Hectare subdivison development in the mountains of San Jose (about 15-20 minutes ride from Dumaguete and antother 10 or so KMs. from the Twin Lakes of Balinsasayao). It's also cool like Valencia and has a fantastic view of the Tanon Strait! If you go up to the lakes through km.12, you will pass by our estate. The road is cemented and there is a small chapel that our family built (there is an ongoing recognition of a Medjugorje type of apparition/miracle in the1990's, that's why the chapel was built)

In fact, I closed a deal last February on a 1.7 hectare lot with a prominent family from Guihulngan, Negros Oriental, who will construct a family compound. They want to have some kind of a private family resort for family from all over the world to enjoy when they come for a visit or to retire. This is about 150 meters or so from this new development I am starting.

Getting to be a life story here. hehehe..

See or hear from you soon. Take note Foxie, I'll be looking for you.

My thoughts exactly pickled newt! I don't mind working hard in America and saving so that in the future when I am old then I can retire in a warm, tropical place that my social security check will cover. This site is great because I am getting more ideas about preparing for the future and possible retirement in the PHL.

That's given that after a long hard years working abroad, you want to retire in a tropical country like Philippines to enjoy the fruit of your labour. Just relax and take life easy. I'm talking about helping the people in a community to have jobs and able to make a living . Starting a business or volunteering are some of ways to help each other .

I still have more years to retirement age but worked hard in my life and still working til we retire soon. So so lucky that my husband and I have good jobs here in England, that we manage to save enough, just enough for us to fully retire, have little funds to fall back on when there is emergency expenses. Retirement for us would mean a relaxing time and enjoy life to the max. Extending help to family is our priority and might volunteer in any charity work. Pickled_newt, we share the same thoughts about retirement and love the idea. No hassle, no aches, no pains, and no stress at all.

Hi Tonyrems. Hope your house & lot's are not over priced like the other Real
estates, they are way over the top.
If the price is right you might have an interested customer, do you have any
examples ? for instance, Three bedroom two baths etc. anyway keep me posted.
    Jim

You have some interesting business ideas tonyrems ,must keep you a very busy man, keep going ,good for you and BEST OF LUCK .That’s right nice thoughts to have ease time and bit of income coming in . We only have just around 2 hectars lot in metro dumaguete ,but we will leave it as it is for now, no major development plans just yet apart from simply planting flowering /ornamental trees around the border ,including fruits trees and other types . Just a nice thought to have a little of something over in Dgte waiting , while properties are still relatively cheaper to buy this time than leave it later .

As of now we’re trying to focus on the reconstruction plans of this shell stage /unfinished house we purchased in Bulgaria of last yr, mainly for holidays . This property gets us because of its location with overlooking views and far reaching to the Greek border ,only 15 minutes to skiing in Pamparovo and soon the Perelik,10 minutes down to mountain city of Smolyan and the ski lifts where all the amenities are like banks, restaurants, night clubs/bars 1 hour to the Greek medieval city of Kavala ( ancient Nealopis) in the Agean white sea, from Kavala port only 30 minutes to cross to the island of Thassos . Also an hour down to the other city of Plovdiv 2nd largest Bulgarian city,2 1/2hours to Sophia the capital,it’s busy all year round for the summer and winter tourism in these areas. Also it only takes 3 hours flight from London airports .The EU is pouring a lot of money into these new EU countries in the Balkans for developing major infrastructures and tourism, major roads and several border crossings are developed soon to open , motorways connecting Greece to Bulgaria and to Romania even far reaching to the Baltic. There’s more going in these areas than that meets the eye and brighter prospects for money to roll on properties in good hot spots.

I enjoy going places around Europe ,more history ,culture, old buildings ,ruins of ancient civilizations ,roman amphi theatres and baths, medieval towns and cities, coobled stone alleys and streets , etc , small villages ,all very fascinating ,awesome .Seems having the feeling to have lived here before. lols:D

We loved Dumaguete but the distance is a such major trip to visit. In many of our trips to the Philippines we normally take 4 wks time off ,and only when children are off from school too .Obviously for now ‘children are the centre of the universe’ here ,life so tied up, no regrets though ,it’s nice having them educated here as one of the priorities . If we ever engage in serious projects back in dumaguete, that’s preferably when without time constraints for us .But this is far from doable as of this time .We’ll take it each step slowly and surely when our time comes .
