⌛ Curiosity only

I'm 41 and my girlfriend (not yet wife) is turning 30 in a couple of weeks, but she looks 18 and I do tend to get looks from others here in the Phil, and very mixed reactions from those back in the USA after seeing pics of us.

I think the age gap is not something to be embarrassed about at all. It should be a requirement. The last thing a man needs is a loud mouth competitor in a relationship. I'm actually not even sure where the idea of marrying within your own age range came from. The history of the world begs to differ, as well as the statistics of how many marriages actually succeed back in our home countries. 50/50 is not something to be proud about.

 

back3eden, firstly, welcome to the DI, I hope your worldly exposure can result in interesting input for us to enjoy. Not sure how much of the Philippines you have seen but if you go to malls in any of the cities in any provinces you will find happy foreigners with both beautiful mature wives and girlfriends as well as those with young wives and girlfriends, very much acceptable and common here (provided the female is at least 18). So feel comfortable, your 10 or 11 years is minimal. Btw, if you decide to marry here, you will find helpful insight.

 

We're 75 and 25. Been together almost two years. I consider myself extremely lucky to have found such a patient, caring, intelligent, loving woman. I didn't believe it was possible until it happened.

I kind of feel a bit outclassed now. I'm 50 & my fiancee is 28, so that's a 22 year gap which bothers me not at all. We're going to the UK for the first time together next month, Popz is 4'9", looks about 17 and I fully expect to be regarded as a letch....

 

Andy.....first if all, welcome to our home here at this website. I'm sure you will enjoy it here.
Just remember in traveling that, for the most part, the rest of the world does not view age gap as do the Philippines.
I am 69 and my wife is 24, but is very petite at 4'10" and 93 pounds, and she looks like a teenager also.
When we were first married I thought everyone here was "looking at us", but it was mostly my own upbringing in the USA that made me think that. I'm sure if I took Mae-Mae back to the USA there would be many negative comments. Here, we are just one couple of many.
Someone said here that it is unknown who or what started the "marry in your own age range" thing. Very true......
As for us......it works extremely well and we are a very happy couple regardless of the thoughts in the USA.
