    actually I did google it...

Black clothes absorb more sunlight and heat radiated from the body than white clothes. However,if they are loose-fitting, and there is wind, the wind convects the heat away faster than it is absorbed. White clothing reflects sunlight, but also reflects internal heat back towards your body, so the net effect under identical conditions is less cooling than with black clothes.....

Reflectivity and conductivity are the factors in heat retention and absorbtion..Black is a function of poor reflectivity but there are black tile on the belly of space shuttle that just wont absorb any of 3500+degrees of friction heat.....Its the composition.. in the winter in northern continents, dark roofs make for good sun absorbers where heat is craved,,and they use so much insulation in those homes for winter warmth that it has the reverse effect advantage in summer keeping heat out......I've eyed this problem and shop out insulation panels for the ceiling if i build one. Also in addition build a ventilation chute at the apex of the roof...After that you can let white roof turn brown in few years and not feel burned to go up and clean it(my white roof in hawaii greened with algea and went up to clean it but slipped on that slick $#!t so my roof remains green.....:o

No.....the desert raiders in black robes exist....have for over 1000 years.... there is a logical reason....hint: air conditioning

BTW You are absolutely correct....dark colors do attract heat....

why do people from the hottest areas turn dark and the hotter it is they turn black,,and in cold areas they turn white? seems white would be better but the material is skin most advanced so not applicable...hmmm It gets cold as frost at night in the hottest deserts and they handle heat better than the cold in africa,,,they are wrapped up for the night...

You are on the money..... heat rises.....creating a vacuum that sucks in cooler air from below......this convection allows for the evaporation of sweat creating a natural cooling system..... they are actually cooler in black than they would be in white

A house reacts in much the same way....if you had no ceiling in the house.....you would have a greater problem....(unless you use natural fibers which have higher insulation factor)..... your metal roof breathes out the rising heat.....it creates a heat barrier (you can enhance that by insulating the ceiling)......be sure you have plenty of vents to allow for the expanding hot air to escape outside and not be forced into the living area
