For anyone who is driving to Cebu, The Maayo ferry added an early morning service yesterday. It leaves at 4:30 am and unloads on the Cebu side just as dawn is breaking. That meant I got a great ride as far as CarCar with next to nothing on the road as far as traffic. Breakfast at MacDonalds in CarCar at 7:45 and then traffic from CarCar to the city, but the trafffic was moving at a good speed so still a great trip.
I don't know how long Maayo will keep that 4:30 am trip operating. Not many on it yesterday.

Best AnswerIf it is possible to go on a Sunday, then leave from Sibulan on the first Maayo ferry at 6 am Sunday morning and you can be in Cebu shortly after 9 am. Just follow the coast. Thats the only time you can do it that fast. Coming back, Sunday evening, leave Cebu by 5 pm at the latest to catch the 9 pm sailing back to Sibulan/Duma

When we used to have to go there we used to leave on the first amlan on the 4am ferry and get to the other side of Cebu around 10am then leave Cebu around 2.30pm and got back here around 7pm
This was also in a pickup and was a killer of a drive with little or few stops.-

The first Maayo ferry from Sibulan to Ilo An departs @04:00am. The remaining schedules are the same plus the 10:30pm ferry now also operates on Sundays.

That is the Sibulan Maayo ferry. Leaves at 4:30 (actually left 5 minutes late by my watch) and unloaded on the other side at 0530 (ish) so by 0630 I was having a 3 in 1 and donuts in Dalaguete. I remember stopping for breakfast in CarCar and being at my hotel in Talisay by 0930 (ish). I was so early that I did not think they would let me check in but luck was with me and the room was ready.-

The drive is not too bad from the port up to carcar but then it turns into a mind f*ck of crap and fools! I personally would never attempt to do it in one day ever again, and if I can avoid it never go full stop!-

I recommend where I have stayed several times close to the best Cebu hospitals and the Consulate that doesn't have a check in or check out time...it is 24 hours after you check in. Top floor restaurant is good and reasonable.

That's really too bad, because doing it on Sunday morning is not only quicker but much less stress. Its actually a nice morning drive on Sundays or holidays, but other days it takes longer and the stress of fighting traffic is much worse so by the time you get back you will likely be frazzled. If I cannot do the round trip on Sundays or holidays I tend to like to stay the night in Cebu. Much less stressful, at least for me.-

Have to admit I was wrong stating 1st ferry now leaving @04:00am. I have an excuse for that, the hand written departure time was not quite legible which caused the 30 min. mistake. Sorry for that. Anyway better too early than too late to catch a ferry (lol).
