Is NOW the time?

I have been wanting to start a "Filipino Lovers Association", for several years. I'm thinking that this might be the time to get it started. There is a powerful lot of good we as a group, could do around Negros Or. With our combined resources, knowledge and wisdom there is no telling the good we could do.
As a child growing up in post war Michigan and being the first of dad's "baby-boomers". My 5 siblings and I went hungry on many occasions. We dug through the dump looking for food.
In Muskegon MI. there is a group called "The Good Fellows" that still works today. My sister tell me that they brought us Christmas several years with toys. I can only remember the fresh fruit. Sis says it is probably because I was so d*mn skinny and hungry. I'm sure Sis is right about us being hungry. You would never know it now by looking at my but I d*mn sure know what hunger feels like and that is a feeling that I will never forget.

I know it is the "season" to let your emotions run wild. I also know all of the bitching that we all do, including me, about "conditions" here. Just look at the threads on traffic, lack of vehicle laws, having to pay off almost every official that you meet, and on and on.

BUT.....this is the land that we all decided that we wanted to live in. I don't ever remember anyone posting that they were "kidnapped" and bought here in chains.

We picked it. We decided for ourselves. We came of our own free will when there were many options available.

I agree with Grandpainak. Why can't we all band together and give back a little bit to others? Make it Christmas all year around.

Now.....how do we do this as a group? Just throwing money is not an answer. Anyone can do that and it usually doesn't work.

Well, the two little children have three older sisters and brothers with the oldest being 12 or 13, and none of them had anything decent.
So.........
5 pair of expensive but long lasting slippers
5 new t-shirts and blouses.
5 nice new 20 peso bills - one for each child for candy
5 Christmas bags to put the things in
Total price about 2500 pesos.......
The looks on their faces, priceless........
