What pay as you go for everything?

And that is the way it should be. How can we have police, schools and army without taxes? Now we need fair, decent health care, if it takes the government to regulate that, then they have my vote.

The problem with government run ANYthing is that it's inneficient, with very few exceptions! I would rather choose the healthcare provider of my choice than be forced to pay the government through taxes! Nothing is free! Something that would have cost $1 will cost $3 by the time the U.S. government is done with it! Heck, they can't even run the postal system without losing money! Why pay triple for something? There is no way the U.S. government can handle the healthcare needs of millions of Americans better than the private sector!

Have you heard about medicare? You choose your own provider and the government pays for it. This program is run at about a 3% overhead. Private insurance companies rake off 20% to 30% and depending on your plan you may or may not pick your own provider. If you want to see a specialist you have to get past your primary care provider (gate keeper) who in many systems has a financial incentive to discourage you. That's called rationing.

As far as the post office goes it was privatized years a ago.

This is the best thread going these days.

The only thing I see missing from a health care discussion, is something about "oxycontin" Rush Limbaugh~

3% overhead for medicare? What about the 25% graft and corruption that the politicians readily admit to?

The US post office is private? You are the one that needs to check the facts. The US post office has never been private. They sell merchandise in the post office and do not pay sales tax, yet they are competing with merchants and purchasers that are paying sales tax.

One of the reasons the Republican in Mass has a chance of winning is because they have public health care and it is a miserable failure and the people there do not want it for the whole US as they want to do away with the plan they have. Mitt Romney was Gov by the way when that was enacted and that is why he will stand a chance of winning the Repub nomination for dogcatcher.

As with most libs you resort to name calling because your arguments are non sensical. You make up "facts" to justify your phony argument.

Privatize was incorrect, the US Post Office was made an independent agency of the US Govt. in 1970, and receives no taxpayer support.

Insurance fraud is a major problem throughout the industry. The Dept. of Justice is trying to crack down on it with some success.

Medicare doesn't administer or pay claims. Private insurers such as Blue Cross Blue Shield are contracted to do it. They are responsible for processing, payment safeguard, and financial management. It would seem that the private sector should get a lot of the blame for the waste and fraud.

I get medicare. I like it. I wish my kids could buy into it.

The president of the United States is an "al quaida agent". "I'm the wrong color". Stupid at best.

Friends dont let friends listen to Rush Lambast.

So your saying the private sector is showing us how health care needs to be done right now?

The post office has been running a long time, yes it needs to modernize and maybe drop some services. I suppose Libraries are a secret commie plot!
