Ugh... apparently I'm turning out to be the elusive dude. I wasn't able to make it today. No kidding, I landed like three new clients today and my day went to crap. As predicted, I'm getting bombarded with work after people started waking up for the holidays. I'm under the gun to get stuff done and I wasn't able to get out of here. I would be better able to make a meeting like this on the weekend because I work weird hours. Between people in the N. America, Europe and Asia, I always have someone online who needs something. :P
Millionaire is just a state of mind. The term has taken on it's own meaning. In the U.S. a million dollars won't even allow you to nicely retire. For a Filipino in the Philippines, the level needed to reach that peace of mind is much lower and more attainable.
Also, this isn't internet money making. This is building a business. In a down economy, building a business is sometimes one of your few options for an income.
Something you missed? lol. Franco definitely has indicated this is all to do with making money on the internet, but I am not sure about a necessary option in a down economy? I seriously think that the internet is not the place to make loads of money its getting harder to get a small company known and there are too many people trying selling get rich quick plans. I make a small amount out of writing and advertising. I know of ways to make a bit more money but its just not worth the hassle and I am just not into joining scams or creating them. I have noticed over the years how much crud and muck has increased in bulk email and the increasing attempts advertising in forums and social networks that simply do not want advertising crap. As a mediator on two social forums these people that think they can get rich quick and don't care about other peoples pleasures on the internet makes my blood boil. Thankfully the problem I had with postal advertisement does not happen here in the Philippines as I use to hate that as well. Now it seems that Franco wants to teach people internet marketing at his computer club. Well I really hope its just running a web site selling goods and not the normal troll like get rich quick mail it out or post it everywhere scam. It would not be much to surmise that this very forum is hit by advertising trolls sometimes. And then I see Franco inviting me to . Sorry Franco not interested if thats the plan A computer proposed club should surely not be used by its creator as a means of making money and I really hope that is not Franco's real intentions?
Well we seem to be talking about two different things here. You are talking about Franko's computer club and then you are talking about "making money on the internet." You have a very narrow view of "making money on the internet." Commercial usage largely drives the internet. I have no statistics available but I would be willing to bet that a majority of businesses in the U.S. has some sort of internet presence. In each case, people are directly or indirectly (creating leads or servicing customers) making money from the internet. The internet is also a communication portal which allows people to work remotely. I have hired people in Dumaguete and paid them more per hour of work than some here make in a whole day. I do all of my work remotely, I don't think I have met any of my clients in person. Starting an "internet business (whatever that means)" is no different than starting any other business. You could make a lot of money but a lot of people won't be successful. Sure, there is a lot of just, scams and other things like that. The internet today sort of resembles the noisiest Asian markets, but they both still work despite the chaos. I don't think Franko meant for this to be a training session on making money on the net, but rather one possible topic of discussion. When you find something that works for you, it's natural to want to tell other people about it. I have been helping expats with no income around here find work through the internet. I'm not giving "get rich quick" seminars, but I do feel like I have something that I can give to help out. Maybe they will do something with it or maybe they won't.
For me it sounds like a trainings session and not about a computer club, where he wants to take benefit of others. All his other posts (also in other threads) are basically about how he can make money and it is his statement "to make millions" and sorry dude, Franko sounds exactly like someone who tries that kind of stuff... and not what you do... I think also it is totally unnatural to tell other people what makes you successful and what works for you. That sounds to me like all those stock-market and money experts where I always wonder why they still have to work... If they know how things are working they would be filthy rich and for sure won't tell anyone how they did it.... but know they make other people believe that they know the rules and destroy their money... Next to his fau-pax with the women-play-cards at another table he only talks about money and SEO. A computerclub is something (at least in my opinion) where where you discuss about programs like a proper Outlook Set-up, how to make databases, work with excel and photoshop or video programing. Maybe I am wrong again..
I was talking about what francos comment to me about making millions on the internet, (slight amusement). Seeing that my last years before my early retirement was developing many a cooperate companys web presence and profiles. I fully under how one can make money on the web selling products but its more of a web presence and a profile thing with small businesses. Its an additive to a companies ability to sell products and services and its normally the bigger companies that make money as they have the power of advertising in the media and on the media. but that was not the vibes I received from Franco's offer to me, it was an offer to teach e how to make millions in internet marketing. Well I have nothing to sell, I certainly know how to set up or design a e-commerce site and know all the tricks concerning web appeal etc, etc. But I left the IT business 10 years ago as the money was not as good as it use to be. To many experts spoil the broth, lol Internet marketing has many meanings e-commerce is the one I am more fond of, e-bother is one I am not fond of as it leads to spam within the more academic circle of the internet plus of course else where and including my email boxes. To make a million means ones got to copy the con merchants that's easy but to me its not honest and not my cup of tea. Its very hard for a small small business to advertise and get known and even harder for a single individual to make cash most of the get rich merchants however find the gullible guys that really believe the sales patter. The money I make on the web pays for my internet connection and some goes to charity. No i would not say I have a bad opinion of good professional e-commerce, but that word Internet marketing followed by make a million or millions, tells me someone wants my money. At present I am programming and designing a web site just for my own pleasure and hopefully give pleasure to others in the near future. The internet for me is a fun place however it can be addictive. I simply do not wish to make money that's why I retired.
