What is your favorite hotel in Dumaguete?

I enjoyed Bethel Hotel a lot, very good value and very clean. I stayed in the hotel next door once because the Bethel was full, the room was not nearly as nice and the price was about the same.

La Residenica is nice, but pricey. You don't get anything more than you would at Bethel.

Honeycomb isn't as nice. The rooms are small, and are just painted wood walls or something. It's an old house converted to a small hotel.

Plus it's right next to a popular bar, and the noise would have to disturb your sleep.

Be careful about choosing rooms that face the street in any hotel. The early morning rattle of tricycles and traffic might have you awake earlier than planned everyday.

Honeycomb was a nice hotel but its run down now, I think its the owners do not check on whats going on there, things get broken and not replaced, I had a room there once the bloody bathroom door was hanging off! bo do not go there, shame it would make a nice hotel if renovated, lovely old house, beautiful stairs...then a horrible ragged out stair carpet, looks horrible, no attention to detail... the phils disease!

I have been going to the phils since the mid 80's I have stayed in hotels more than once, and can say in that time NOTHING has changed, the mistakes made then are still being made today, Bethel is the only one that is good in Dgte, but even in manila the hotels have stood still in 20 odd years. Marriott Cebu is okay, not great, but okay.

What I worry about is bethel, will it go donwhill like so many or will it keep up the standard, I think it will keep up, as the BOSS is always around, when the owners are not around things go "pear shaped"

    Hotel Palwa is great(Brand new)

I just stayed at Hotel Palwa and paid 699P single per night including breakfast....The hotel is only 6 months old....The room was spotless and the staff great..Double is 899P for the exact same room but with 2 people..guess that covers the cost of breakfast...

    What Hotel To Take.......

Yep , On all I can agree. I have checked them all out during the last 3 weeks. Honeycomb is terrible ,but trust me when I say there are even worse and SMALLER rooms where you almost have to clim over the bed into the CR. One of them is Marie Louise Suite Inn. Nothing "suite " not even the staff !! Terrible beds on which you will hope you will loose appetite for .... and just go to sleep That is if you can...Very depressing experience...

Bethel is spick and span , looks more like a Hospital , but then again everything is inmaculate...... If you are into having "visitors " in your room , Bethel is a Christian Hotel and allow visitors for maximum two hours at daytime. No alcohol and NON smoking... For me just great. Palwa is a little away from the Boulevard and next to a gas station so check carefull what room you choose. It is rather bussy at the street in front...

I've been in and out of Bethel since the late 90's and never had trouble having guest in the room-even overnight. It might depend on the image you project, or whether the guests come in on their own and go to the elevator, or with you, OR if the guest looks a little suspicious in some ways. You won't get a prosti past the front desk perhaps.

More than once I've brought someone to Dgte from Cebu, often with her sister, or met girls from Tanjay there who stayed the night. I just never had a problem with the Bethel staff.

Wish I could say it was all cavorting, but I think every time, it was just simply spending the night. One time with a room full of girls in the room, we did feel an earthquake, but its' origins were outside the room rather than inside..:D

A notorious foreigner playboy from Cebu and his son were once asked to leave Bethel though, due to their reputation alone. Later he was tossed out of PI altogether

VIPERACR . You might just be right on all that , However I am sure you also are aware of the signboard that will tell you about the maximum two hours stay , diba.. Furthermore I agree that if somebody takes a girl that walks like a duck , queks like a duck , the reception will agree that it surely it is a "Duck " and will come into action. It also might not be a bad idea to have atleast ONE Hotel that will keep everything in a more decent way.. Plenty of other places where you can bring a girl . I even have heared about Hotels were they can provied you with such comodities if just requested for......
Besiide that , I do believe most of us would like to see that Duma does not get the reputation of "Little Mabini Street "... To many people comming over for sheer fun and plenty of Generic Viagra or Cialis does not do any good to the Outstanding reputation that Dumaguete now has... Lets try to upgrade Duma and not downgrade it by promoting " Mermaids" in the sanctuary of Apo Islands , making the ignorant tourist to literly distroy every piece of coral they step on or simply break off ,and then return in the evening to go to " the Strip " of Dumaguete to check out some sleasy bars with man eating Girls.and plenty of drugs within in reach.. We need NO NEW BANGKOK in Dumaguete !! Call me Old fascion and over protective ? YES !!! AND I AM PROUD OF THAT !! Many ,Many people fell in LOVE with Dumaguete for its beauty and exelent people and their great friendship Lets keep it that way..

Wise words Earlmj. Implementing such is another thing...Lets face the hunger (for money) of some..... and eagerness to buy of others. I'm fully at your site but behavior of some scares me......... Lets hope....
