Asian women trying to keep their skin light is practiced all across Asia...not just in RP. This has nothing to do with emulating white people, it's about emulating the look of the wealthy----having light skin means you don't need to farm for a living. If one wants to emulate wealthy whites, one would want to get as dark as possible.

 

I brought back some bars of "Skin White" soap to Canada this year. Everyone thought it was hilarious !! Of course if you sold this product in a store here, you would get yourself on the front page of the newspapers as you were being lead in handcuffs to jail. That's before your store was burned to the ground the next day. It is really funny that everyone in the Phils are trying to get white while we are all lined up at the tanning salons in Canada, paying big money, trying to get dark.

 

Wrooong!!!!:D:D Not everyone in the Philippines are trying to get "white", and this is not funny! You're generalizing. If some filipinos want to get their skin bleached or whatever they want to apply to their skin to make it fair, it's their prerogative, period. :(
