Sometimes you don't have to believe to someone who says they're experts on computers and telling you this and that, look for 2nd or 3rd or 10th opinions. It's also nice to read related issues to your question or problems or simply buy a book to fix it. Just like this... everyone is sharing something good infos. That's the reason why I love it here. I have a few bad experience to some computer technicians ended my laptop to cemetery long time ago. And when you have it fix to a technicians...list all the specs and brands of your internal stuff, most technicians replace it with another one.

Don't take free anti virus or free tune up utilities, the protection is limited and go for best anti virus. I wish its allowed to share my AVG license key here.

Another option is the deepfreeze program, if you always share your computer, activate the deep freeze when you're not around.

pc users has too much risks in terms of virus attack compared to mac users... but pc users have free antivirus. you can download it by searching security essentials in google and download it.
it is more of a lifestyle thing in order to avoid the risk on getting a virus. do not exchange files with anyone. when you go to the internet choose only the one's that are eligible to open with and established in the internet....mcafee has a program that will suggest which sites are safe or not and you can download it also in the internet thru their website but i think you have to pay for that every year.
i have tried avg free before in vietnam but as i go thru with it. it seems that every virus is coming to my computer and i did not even know that. so trying those free antivirus does not guarantee you at all because it is just free. risking everything including my files at work and home is not worth my time and effort going thru with it again.. so better secure yourself.

 

AVG does the same.

Avast does a very good job, including their free version. It also alerts you beforehand instead of after you get a virus.

 

The free version of AVG offers outstanding protection.
If one searches the usual suspects, a keygen for the AVG upgrade can be found.

When you let access to your computer to someone "non expert" I recommend to enable or create a Guest account, by default with few privileges so they can browse all the spam web sites without messing with your stuff and relative low risk if your OS is timely updated.

Its easy to do, when you leave your computer just select "Lock computer", she can log with the Guest account by clicking "Switch user" and later on you can can close/lock her session and continue with yours.

About IP address with my sky"broadband" sometimes Google complains that my IP is making too many requests, but thats not a problem with our computers, the problem is we are using a Proxy server. If you look at the HTTP responses you can find something like X-Cache:MISS from dgtproxy1.skybroadband.com.ph

 

Those free antivirus can never guarantee you anything. Those antivirus software which are being paid are those people who are c

There are antivirus which are cheap that can be bought. But i wont Suggest to sacrifice my files and my os for simple free antivirus. Its more risky and costlier too.

 

Nod32 is cheap. Norton and mcafee and kaspersky are more expensive but they are all reliable.
