    Misread!

 I get a feeling this Thread will turn into one of those slanging matches soon!
RR, NO one is here is stupid, we have most of us travelled this route, we know what time it sails, It was stated wrongly, that the boat sailed at NOON and not MN as the schedule states. Humour was added to the thread, it has been taken badly, Now come on please, don't lets make a mountain out of a Mole Hill my friend.

I never did say someone is stupid. On the contrary. I just gave true info about the schedule of a ferry that was asked for and that can be checked on the company's website. So no offense or what's ever. As far as I am concerned the moderator may close this topic. Like beauty maybe also humor is in the eyes of the beholder. Have fun, after all better a good health than a bad memory.

there were many ways going to CDO, one is through the Cebu Ferry that is once a week , and another one via Cebu... manila is quite far already much expensive too. if you cant do the once a week schedule, via cebu is the best alternative, there were boat scheduled everyday for that.. trust me, i'm connected ( working ) at the port ....

there is another way, don't know if its been mentioned before... but from Bohol,Jagna. You need to get on the ferry to Tagbilaran.. bus to Jagna.
    then the Ferry to CDO.

There are daily boats going from Dumaguete to Dapitan, Super Shuttle Ferry leaves 5 a.m. daily. Cokaliong leaves Tues, Wed, Thur, and Sat at 7 a.m. That is IT for direct routes.

Otherwise, you go through Cebu or Tagbilaran. Transasia runs several times per week Tag-CDO at 7 P.M. There are numerous boats nightly from Cebu to CDO, Iligan, Ozamis, and Dapitan, and visa versa.

Nope, seldom will you find connecting boats on the same island, bus transportation is much cheaper. Due to road construction, Dapitan to CDO by bus is now 8+ hours.

The fastest/easiest way to get to CDO is take the fast craft to Tagbilaran, then the Transasia to CDO, or fly.

The below information was all gathered in july 2013:

Due to construction work in the port of Dumaguete, the direct service from Dumaguete to Cagayan de Oro with Cebu Ferries is temporarily suspended. Also George & Peter Lines, who used to dock in Dumaguete on the way from Dapitan/Dipolog to Cebu and vise versa, now skips Dumaguete and go directly between Mindanao and Cebu. Presumably for the same reason.

The following operators between Dumaguete and Dapitan/Dipolog all have daily service with an actual sailing time of 3½ to 4 hours:

    • Super Shuttle Ferry departing Dumaguete 5 pm and Dapitan/Dipolog 5 am
    • Montenegro Lines departing Dumaguete 6 am and Dapitan/Dipolog 1 pm
    • A new company, which name I can not remember, departing Dumaguete 3.30 pm and Dapitan/Dipolog at 4 am.

All these vessels are Ro-Ros and suitable for transporting cars and trucks as well as passengers.

Cokaliong might also still be operating 4 times pr. week as described by shadow, but I was unable to comfirm this, since there was no one in their ticket office, when I went to the port of Dumaguete. Actual sailing time with Cokaliong is about 5 hours, and the vessel is an old cargo boat, where it is possible but not particular easy to bring a car.

Finally I am unsure, if there is still service between Dumaguete and Dapitan/Dipolog with fast craft ferry, as there used to be.

Be adviced that travel in the provinces laying between Dapitan/Dipolog and Cagayan de Oro is not considered completely safe by most sources. So if you are travelling with public transport, the more comfortable and prudent solution is to go by plane or boat via Cebu or Bohol as described by others.

The road between Dapitan/Dipolog and Cagayan de Oro is mostly in good condition at the moment, and there were no major road constructions ongoing in july 2013. For that reason travel time was normal, which is about 7-8 hours by private car and a bit more by bus.

Be adviced also, that you need to take an inter island ferry in Ozamis to avoid a 130 km long roadtrip around the bay separating the western part of Mindanao from the rest of the island. That trip takes about 25 minutes and is included in the 7-8 hour travel time.

Finally be adviced, that when I and others say Dapitan/Dipolog, we actually mean Palauan Port. The port is situated right between Dapitan and Dipolog and about 3 km from the highway running between the two cities. Public transport from Palauan Port to the highway is by tricycle only.
