I seen some at why not, flightless varieties, some had long legs and some look like they would peck you if you ruffled their feathers
Almost, except all the local fish must come from somewhere. The near shore fishery is almost completely dead, offshore is another matter.

Thank you to everyone for all of the useful info - I look forward to retiring in the PI in another 7 or 8 years but i must admit it is rather discouraging to hear about the lack of wildlife -air, sea and land.... sigh. Every visit i make an effort to look at the culture/country with greater attention to the details. Prior visits (the last in 2008) were spent in cities or very close to them. This time i plan on exploring the less traveled areas on Negros - with my wife or relatives of course! learn to scuba, do some fishing, rent a 125cc and try out the roads for myself. Looking forward to it immensely, although i wonder what my thoughts and impressions will be on the return flight..... Thanks again, Joe
