I've been looking for a fitness center here also. I've seen a few here and there, but the only one I've checked out is Fit4Life(?) on Cervantes Street. It's not big, but it has everything I'm looking for.

Sometimes its who you know, other times its what you can do.

We can suggest until we turn blue in the fingers but until you look around or decide what it is you do best and if you can do that something and make a living doing it we are wasting our time. What looks good to us may not be good for you. If you are not good at your business you probably won't stay in business long I would hope.

Here's one just because you asked: Co-op bank.

Here's another suggestion to keep you from losing the lot. Short note - I have two friends I've known for many years leave the Philippines in recent months and never going back - having done their dough after early retirements and trying to survive...

I suggest you put every dime in a 401k or whatever is the equivalent in your country and leave it there. Live on the income it generates and forget about trying to make a living in the Philippines running a business. Maybe....just maybe...one in a hundred is successsful LONG-TERM.

I have to agree with garbonzo on his points.

I think if you're a foreigner wanting to start a business here, it's only a good idea if you're opening a business because it's something that you enjoy. For example, if you enjoy dancing and want to open a dance studio or if you love to cook and want to open a restaurant, even if it's not very successful you still get personal satisfaction out of it. If you want to open a business solely in an attempt to make a lot of money, good luck! There's already a lot of businesses here, and even if there's a business that's not offered here, it probably isn't needed/wouldn't be in demand anyway.
