I assume the emotional ejaculation of jundem results from from the typical failure of junior members to read, think and understand, neither when they sign up nor when they get messages like

"A moderator has to review your post in the next 24 hours"

He tried to post some links which fall in the mod queue and was of course deeply disappointed about the message he got that his post is moderated due to his links.

After posting exactly the same in the next 7 minutes 3 times AND getting exactly the same message he might have felt disappointed and sitting probably alone at 3 am lonely and desperate in front of a computer wishing that anything would suck at all so at least DI did. I hope you enjoyed, we wont charge you for that...

Anyway some words to the statistics. With the numbers mentioned above and the available beds in Dumaguete and surrounding areas, the existing Hotels would have a less than 30 % occupancy average, taking the number of rooms (not the beds) it would still be under 50%.

yes, i agree with jack. i travel cebu very often and sometimes manila, and i had several trip canceled in last minute due to engine problems, sorry maam fully booked!, and whatever reason. and if i take flight for the following day it cost me almost 5k or another sorry maam fully booked. and if i'm loaded with 4 luggage a route via land(ceres bus) is a big headache.

Well, cheap hotels for sure will benefit those who want to save and don't have a big budget. There are several hotels in Dumaguete that are way expensive. I hope hotels like Sogo will rise.

Right now in the editorial of the Negros Chronicle they mention discounts of 30 to 50 % in Philippine resorts due to lack of business.
This as a result of the bus-disaster in Manila where several Hong Kong tourist where killed.

well, I am in touch with many resorts, no single one discounts anything because of that happening. this time of the year you get the normal low-season discount.
but as you mentioned the source of that bus-disaster-discount, it basically explains itself

    Robinson's

 I see from the latest write up about GOHOTELS, that each hotel will be built on a Robinson's site where a mall is already built or to be built. I just wonder if there will be the custom, based on the location of Our robinson's mall?

As far as I can remember SOGO is a motel....yeah I want them to build one here .. my suggestion would be in Cangmating where the rest of the motels :D:D:D:D:D

That is the most strategic place as of the moment for a hotel...and GoHotel should be the first Hotel should be built in Dumaguete City Business Park....

 Only if you feel like cock Fighting or need a bus out of town, I see no other reason for a Hotel/Motel there at all.

    Hotel/pension room prices

Waiting at the airport for some guests to pick up, I took one of each leaflets there of hotels and pensions.
So I took the time here to mention their prices (only their lowest mentioned rates for a double room with AC).
Of course it's difficult to compare on prices only (some have no fridge etc..) AND these prices are surely not their applied prices (how old is the leaflet, how much discount they give you, with or without breakfast etc...) but it is hopefully of SOME use .

Check Inn Pension Arcade: P 850
    Honeycomb Tourist Inn: P 1000
    Harolds Mansion: P 605
    Casa Demonteverde: P 625
    Guest House (2/F RM Building) : P 750
    Vintage Inn : P 650
Tip Top Tower Suit Inn: P 800
    Grand Pensionne Plaza: P 700
    Hotel Palwa : P 969
    Hotel Nicanor : P 999
    The Worldview Pension Plaza : P 850
    Obdulia Business Inn : P799
Villa Padre Guest House: P 3500
    Bahura Resort: P 4500
    Apo Island Beach Resort : P 2100

    Don't ask me more pls.
This is what the leaflets tell you and I could not find more leaflets form other hotels/guest houses/resorts ......
Look on "Dumaguete Info", maybe their prices are mentioned on Rhoody's website (The Dane's ....sorry !)
