I am so glad to be part of this forum. I am living now at Siquijor Island since first week of February. I came from Cagayan de oro city Mindanao and I am in a relationship with a german national. He is doing a dental project in the Island last February. He is a dentist in germany and is a chairman of German NGO improving Dental Health in Tropical countries. And it happen that siquijor is best for the said project we called German Dentists for Siquijor Children (GDSC). The project is in cooperation with DepEd, Department of Education in Siquijor. For the first year of the said project will focus on the pre- schooler. it is to educate the pupils how to take care of the tooth, gums and mouth care. Firts 2 months we do tooth check up and by class opening by June, we will do cleaning and other dental services.

Life in Siquijor is so quite and so relaxing. Away from pollution and noises. As of now, we are staying at Casa dela playa beach resort in Sandugan Larena. They have houses for rent. Most ofen we go to dumaguete and shop for household things and for food. In here, in terms of economic availability or basic commodities is still scarce. So we need to go to other Island to shop what we need more. But its a real adventure to be here.

For those who havent been here yet, try to come and experience the Island.

Sounds like a great project. We have done similar things here in Dgte,but nothing on that kind of long term scale. Good luck!

i'm just wondering if that dental check up, and some other dental services are for free.... in that mission.. hehehe... how about the medicine and supplies....

i wish that mission would be successful....hehehehe... by the way my BF is also german we are almost 5 years here now in dumaguete... sometimes he is there in Siguijor for diving... last time he bring us...(my daugther) we stay at Kiwi resurt.. i like the place and also the dive sites there,...

Congratulations for spending your great hearts in Siquijor! Great choice although my team wouldn't have minded enjoying your kindness for the children in Amlan, Neg. Or. as well.

I've heard just recently that there is a plan for a mission team of overseas-based Filipino surgeons and dentists late this year that will visit Negros Oriental. The team I heard will have other volunteers representing experts from other countries. This is super! We hope to be able to avail of similar services that you are kindly extending to the Siquijor community. Hopefully you can join the team or that the team also visits your new service place.

How apt to work with DepEd. The public schools there in Siquijor will benefit a lot.

Thank you for your message. Great! Yes we are hoping all these things will work longer, but it will depends on the person incharge especially the government official. All services will be free dental,( toothpaste and toothbrush), soap for handwashing, medicines, deworming, but for other things like improvement of school facilities especially toilets and wash rooms which is the most important will be shared with the govenrment. As we saw during the school visit and check up of pupils, some schools didnt have water, only have common comfort room for all students and I think school or education and health should be given attention because in here were to help our country to move on a little by little for progress.
