    I agree you shouldn't expect anything to change and certainly don't try to "convert" her. That's just asking for trouble. Maybe a little drop of something here and there but for the most part just live with it. I've not found anything objectionable about the services and other religious observances but I've also not been asked to send money to a faith healer and doubt I ever will.

    You are right RHB,my wife's knowledge of Catholicism is limited.She was trying to tell me Mary Magdalene was Jesus mother!
    I'm not worried,as she is slowly coming round to my way of thinking.

    I hope you had a good Christmas Sara.No my wife wasn't winding me up,she doesn't know how to do that.To save face in the end she said in the Philippines both Marys are the same.

    Just took a poll here three filipinas all college graduates, two did not know who Mary M was, the third guessed Sister of Mother Mary... two girls were catholic, one mormon.
    It's the norm

    actually as you noticed I was responding to a specific quote, thought it might add some perspective to the relationship between the a priori knowledge of Catholicism vs the folk beliefs prevalent in the Philippines.
