Hi everyone, first of all, thanks for taking the time to read my thread.

a friend of mine took a nice picture
(http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4603212/283336_2210208105914_1568834669_2392906_3041782_n.jpg) of a strange head found on a beach in Canoa Quebrada (in Céara, north-east of Brasil) It was quite big (larger than say a soccerball). and it fascinated me as noone could tell me what it was.
My first guess would be some kind of cartilaginous fish (Class of sharks and rays), but I couldn't find it.

so any hints or indications are welcome!
    thx

My first guess would be a great Photoshop.
second, offspring of a duck raped by a whale-shark
    third, a sub-species of a Manjurai (usually a freshwater-fish)

I still tend to believe the first guess

How about a sardine caught off shore from the Japanese nuclear power plant?
Or my brother's ex wife? Just joking because I don't have a clue

haha, thanks guys, but I'm inclined to believe that this really is an existing specimen (I mean really, the detail on the thing: must be an awfully good photoshopper, who knows his biology), which is why I'm taking the effort to identify it.
so for the sake of argument, let's assume it's real.

Probably some poor Alien's pet who was left behind when it got out of the flying saucer for a leak .. think how sad they must be ..

well, I was looking way more exotic and did not see the obvious... shame on me. I think you are pretty correct with the spotted eagle ray.

After querying "eagle ray" on Yahoo images, I have to concur with balustre.

Same pic I saw, Rhoody!! I was going to post the pic, too, but it looked like it might be copyright protected, but not too sure.
