    Only Ocean Jet sails Cebu-Dumaguete

There is only one daily connection between Cebu and Dumaguete with Fast-ferry, and it is operated by Ocean Jet. Departure time is 6 a.m. from Cebu and 2.20 p.m. from Dumaguete, travel time is 3 h 40 min.

The boat follows the route Cebu-Tagbilaran-Dumaguete-Dapitan and vise versa.

    Ocean Jet

As already reported by others, there are however many other - and cheaper - ways to get from Cebu to Dumaguete.

    * Ceres Liner busses bound for Dumaguete leave Cebu approx. every 2 hours from early morning until 3 p.m. Travel time is 4 h 45 min.

    * Busses or V-hires bound for Lilloan leave Cebu throughout the day. From Lilloan a boat takes passengers to Sibulan, and from here it is a short 10 km ride to Dumaguete with another bus or with a jeepney.

    * "Regular" boats go from Cebu to Dumaguete several times pr. week, usually departing around midnight. Travel time is around 6 h 30 min.

    Cost and departure point

Busses bound for Dumaguete or for Lilo-an leave from Cebu South Bus Station. There is another terminal for V-hires, but I don´t know what it is called or where it is, since I have personally always used the regular boat, fastferry, Ceres Liner or most often my car to get from Dumaguete to Cebu. A taxi driver in Cebu should be able to find both the South Bus Station or the V-hire terminal, if you tell him, where you are going.

A few years ago, a ticket with Ceres Liner Cebu-Dumaguete was 230 peso. It is probably up a bit since then, due to the rapidly rising prices of fuel. You also need to pay separately for the boat bringing you and the bus from Cebu to Negros Island. This is currently 60 peso pr. head. So expect to pay a bit more than 300 peso all in all to go from Cebu to Dumaguete with Ceres Liner.

A trip with V-hire to Lilo-an, then boat to Sibulan, then jeepney to Dumaguete is presumably about the same cost, and the same is the case for the regular boats. A trip with Ocean Jet currently costs 800 peso, so this is more than twice as expensive as any of the other routes. It is however faster and more comfortable also, except maybe for the very early departure time from Cebu.
