I don,t think that cloths are the best Idea to make some monet here, unless you can sell them in a huge numbers to big shops. The general cloth market in Dumaguete is ruled by chinese and you don't want to spend your time in Dumaguete with sitting on some 100 shirts and try to sell them.
The Expat market will not spend money into more or less high-priced shirts. Most of them complain if a SMB is more then 35 PHP.

But I lreally ike that you bring in Ideas. Maybe the other way around is more interesting. get some great shirts here and sell them to bigger shops in the western world. (but also they may have already their chinese supplier)

    cheers

    My 2 cents worth

I don't think you'd get want to get stuck with inventory you can't return. Unless you get stuff on consignment or can afford it, your ROI (return of investment) might take a while. On the other hand, if the product is really unique and you have identified your market, go ahead. Everybody should be an entrepreneur:smile:

The segment here with the most disposable income, IMHO, are the students. I'd keep that in mind when pricing. One more thing I notice, correct me if I'm wrong, is that more people here are brand conscious and not necessarily in a bad way. That's why franchises make a lot of money and people are bringing them in one on top of the other. And maybe that's why ukay stuff (albeit imported) goes over very well. I might have to clarify that in the future, if someone asks.

I'm not a businessman in that sense (I've always been a little envious of retailers), but money is serious business to me. If my two cents worth is of any help to anyone, I'd be happy.

    Good luck!!

Hmmm. I get pretty decent formal shirts for about 350 pesos in Bacolod. Nice T-shirts around 100. I can appreciate that you're offering a quality product but the quality at these prices is good enough for me...If you're targeting the expat and wealthy Filipino communities...I'd say a niche imported food market would do the trick. Food products from the USA and Europe, as fresh as possible, and all in a one-stop store. Fair variety in Bacolod - good enough for me, but really not that great, but most (including Dumaguete from what I saw a couple years ago) are much worse. If it's good quality, and most importantly, available...people will pay the price...A decade in the Middle East seeing people pay anything for Western products...good money for anyone brave enough.

We have lots of these niche food markets in Australia offering European and Asian goods....and business is brisk...

For quality wise philippines made t-shirt still the best! It beaten up by washer and dryer all the time but still soft to the body. whenever any one of my friends went back there in philippines i always ask for a half a dozen t-shirt(crispa).Any clothing here in north america imported only in namesake but the quality will not last for long.Specialy, when its always being iron and dry in the sun.
My boyfriend was amused the first time he saw me ironing my t-shirt. He commented, im the first person he saw in his life ironing a t-shirt.
Destiny, why not bring with you chocolate a lots of it ! get it in cosco.Thats affordable to eveerybody and kind of pasalobong.
