    Hi to all!

My name is Dave and have lived in Iligan City for the past 2 1/2 years and it is time to move out. My wonderful wife and i are concidering Dumaguete. We will be visiting over the Christmass break for 5 days or so to look things over and to check out places to rent for when we make our move in April. My wife has been teaching for 22 years and would like to finish her masters is the other reason for moving there.

Also i am also looking for a place that i can set up a small buisness doing what i love do best, great Texas style BBQ. I love to smoke different meats,Salmon, make pork breakfast sausage and smoked bacon and a mean BBQ sauce. Any one for a good old BBQ?

If anyone can give us any ideas on the best way to find rentals it would be a great help. We would like to live outside the city a little with a decent size yard.

Love to meet you folks some day! Do you have regular get togeathers?

My spelling is not that great, sorry. I need to figure out how to down load the spell check

    Dave

    Hi Dave,
Nice to see that you have found our forum and even have decided to move to here.
Please search on this forum a while because there are many postings about rentals.
BBQ ? Sounds good but I won't be a regular customer if it's the typical American style of BBQ which is for me 'a bit' too greasy :D
Hope you will succeed to find a good place and tell us where your next BBQ will be
I guess the whole forum will get its first visit for free, is'nt it :D ??

    Dave,

welcome to DI. sounds like a good plan... I am up for BBQ greasy and messy... Jelly can't eat that, he need to take care of his body-shape... hehe. I lost that body awareness about 39 years ago. Good luck for your plans :-)

    cheers

    Rhoody

    Thanks for the heads up.

Is there a place in Dumaguete that you folks regularly meet?

Has any one had the experience of opening a business in town. Just wondering how hard it is. They make it somewhat difficult here in Iligan

well, depending on the business. If Dumaguete expats are the target market, just forget about it right away. Aiming for the healthy Filipino and offering something real special seems to work.

In Dumaguete is no big buying potential, what is one of the reasons the new mall will have no new restaurants and only the same fastfood crap and local food places already existing in Dumaguete. Trying to reach the market with higher standard ,quality and of course the higher price which comes with it seems to fall through here.
