Am not sure if anyone here already started a thread about internet connection. My question is a little more specific, though. I am planning to bring a lap top/PC to my hometown Mayabon Zamboanguita. Thinking about leaving it there for my family. Is there anybody here knows if I can get a connection there? If so, what do I have to do? If possible please shoot me a private email or post it here. Thank you in advance!

I tried here in Zamboanguita with Smart-Bro but got very disappointing results. Standing at our beach I got some (2) bars of signal. A bit further away from the beach 1 bar and at 100 mtr from the beach no signal at all.
I live south of Zamboanguita. My friends in Maayongtubig (which is closer to Dumaguete !) can't use Smart-Bro even, although living at the beach.
So it is very critical from where Smart_Bro starts to work reasonably in our area.
I know there are some in Zamboanguita using Smart-Bro (According to the Smart information desk) but I don't believe some of them can use it satisfactory.
I use now since 3,5 years internet via my own antenna, which is working now reasonably.
But of course the costs are much higher than when able to use the 'normal' providers and not needing a special antenna.

Lucricia, it has been 4 years ago that I bought my antenna so the price could be different now (hopefully lower since there have been joined many more customers meanwhile )
The price then was around 33000 Php for the installation + the hard ware.
The company was then named IT-Outlook, but changed to:

    ITQest, Inc.
    Communications for Remote Locations.
    Dumaguete Spring Building
    Valencia Road cor Luzuriaga St.
    Lower Bagacay, Dumaguete City 6200

But yr family can come to my place to have a talk about the in's and out's when they want.
    Send me a PM.

Thanks for the reply. Since it was 4 years ago, is there any improvements on the Smart bro connection or still have some problems. My sister says the internet connection in Zamboanguita is very slow to download.
My family doesn't even own the place they live in. They are renting. I guess I have to wait to put all of that atenna when they have their own home.

Internet is mostly slow here but of course it depends on what you have installed.
What I know from others who use Smart-Bro not far from here is that it is not a great thing.
It so depends from the distance and location (beach, mountains, trees ....) if you get yes or no acceptable signal.
Maybe one of her neighbours has his own antenne and is willing to share it with her for a certain price. many are doing so to decrease the high cost (but sure....it will lower the speed as well :D)

My sister just live right on the side of the highway right in town in Zamboanguita. Well...if you just live next door maybe we could share the expenses.... how much are you paying by monthly? I will tell her to try using the smart bro first and if it is not working then she can find something better.
Thanks for the info. take care.

A friend of mine uses GLOBE (I think she mentioned Globe - will confirm it next time, though) from Poblacion, Zamboanguita and she emails me and we call each other thru Skype lately. We are doing it regularly.
