I have researched all posts on the Dumaguete Info forum regarding an alternative high speed Internet provider called "IT Outlook" and found that all of the posts provide negative comments about the company.

The posts were written back in May of 2007 so I would like to know if things have changed and if IT Outlook has improved their service. I am planning to move to Valencia and Smart Bro is not available up on the mountain.

If I cannot get reliable 24/7 high speed Internet I will have to forget about Valencia.

I'm still with IT Outlook and had a very difficult start with many times no-connection or very slow connection from November 2006 onwards.
It's well improved I have to say since half a year or so.
But they are still quite expensive compared to other alternatives (if you have them at your location !!).
A bad experience to me is their compensation for the many months of bad internet connection I had faced in the first 12 or more months (I had payed for a 12 months period of internet-USE !).
They gave me 3 months 'extended' free use.
If I had an alternative ..... I was gone the same day.
All the troubles we had with AGAIN going all the way to Dumaguete (24 km one way) because the connection was gone and nobody could tell how long it could take.
So I'm not complaining about their technical performance at this moment but still dissatisfied with their 'accomodating' attitude (very euphemistic  ), not well realizing what serious troubles their service was giving to their customers.
PM: Just as I wanted to send this posting I got a bad connection again. The posting I could amend with this PM and I'm still waiting (since 20 minutes)when I can send it. So don't read here that I now DON'T have problems anymore.

Thank you for your update. It does not sound like IT Oulook is a good option because I have an Internet business and require a good connection 24/7. Do you know if there are any other Internet providers in the Valencia area? How about Globe wireless?

I heared about the new fiber optic cable internet from Sky CABLE. Some say its far more better than GLOBE. I'm still gonna clarify on this though. Better investigate on this too if your interested.

    Good day!

Globe wireless is not available in valencia,,,the best option for bussiness use is really dumaguete and not only that,,,to really minimize downtimes for a 24/7 operation you must subscribe into 2 ISP's,,,Like Smart bro paired with Globe or Skydsl. Its sad but true our internet status here in the philippens is not comparable to other Countries^__^

I have a friend in Apolong that tried to get Smartbro a year ago and was unable to get signal at that time. However, after paying another company a lot of money over the year for very poor service, he applied for SmartBro again and got it. He now has good service.

I'm not sure where on the mountain you are referring to, but be aware that Smartbro is making great improvements in their service area up here.

    Larry in Valencia.

    Hello Larry,

There is a road that goes up the mountain that is 50% paved and 50% not paved. The house I am renting is located on that road. Smart Bro told the owner of the house they could not provide service in that area.

Ahhh, I will assume you are referring to the Sagbang road, which goes to the Shrine. As far as I know, there is no service up there. Wayne who operates the ATV tours lives at the bottom of the road, and paid a dear amount of money to IT Outlook, and still has no service.

Yes.. that is the road I was talking about. Guess I will have to forget about Valencia and find another area.

Thanks to everyone who responded to this thread.

If you're really desperate and willing to pay the price - Dream TV has a satellite internet service:

    [ D r e a m V S A T Search Result(s)]

Make sure you're sitting down when you check the price....I've heard it's ok, but gets useless during heavy rain. In Valencia that could be an issue...
