I am new to this site but was impressed at the information I could find so I wanted to chime in. My husband (American) and I (Italian) live in Cebu and travel through Dumagete once or twice a month. I have eaten at many places mentioned but not all restos of course. I am looking forward to trying some of the recommendations I have read.

I have to say that I agree with some of MaryFree's assessment of Italia and wonder how anyone could have a discussion of Italian food in Dumagete without expanding to other nearby and inviting restos. I too enjoyed the waitstaff at Italia however I did not see the construction crew chef (wink) and am not really too concerned with this visual. I can forgive any resto for it's effort to expand and improve service.

However what I can't forgive is the taste and appeal of the food for the price. My meal was ok but not for the price given it's location - Dumagete is not a metro. I don't believe that dinner for 7 is worthy of 3000php in Dumagete. Right around the corner from Italia is a long standing favorite of mine where I can get dinner for 7 for half the price. I can't remember if it is called Boston Market or Boston Cafe but it is consistently delicious. The last time I went there I had their vegetarian lasagna and my husband had the lumberjack I believe it was called. Both were made from scratch with home grown herbs and really good.

There are many other restos worthy of mentions but I just had to chime in when talking about Italia given such a gem as Boston Cafe/Market right next door. Perhaps I will find the time to tastes some of your other offerings my next time through and try to post my findings.

Can anyone tell me where to find the best halo halo in town?

Thank you for this informative and user friendly tool.

    Kind regards,

    Florence Celio
