To grandpainak..... No, I do not own any Apple stock, but I have found my iPhone to be an extremely useful tool here. I have a program to convert currency and another program for metric conversions that I use many times a day while learning things here.
I really could not live without it. The best things that I bought with me were my two new Acer netbooks and two Apple iPhones.....all with wi-fi.
Of course, I "unlocked" the iPhones to be able to use them here on the SMART (or any) cellular system.
Why did we, in the US, have to grow up without learning the metric system?

And to Rhody.....ok, I downloaded and printed you link and I'm going to walk in the next time with it in my hand. Thank you for the link.

    Apple stock

I do not own any Apple stock either. I think maybe I should, I got a pile of money invested in Apple products. I do not how ever own an iPhone.
    May be I should.

I hate to sound like a techno-junkie at my age, but the reality is that here I rely on my iPhone for so much. Besides the obvious cell phone, I do my email, my daily text messages from my daughters, my currency conversions, my metric conversions and my language translations. And of course, the Internet (I am on the iPhone now). And before I left the US, I got each of my 3 daughters one, and bought one extra for my wife Rudy here (so she wouldn't use mine).
I know that I am retired and relaxing here, but I do like the option of always being in touch with everyone.
Back in the US, they are relatively cheap. I was told that they are 36,000 pesos here, but I see that GLOBE now has a promo going on for the iPhone (like the ATT promo in the US).

To Chris_ana2007..... I wonder if we ever get to the point of complete understanding of all of this. I again looked on my receipt to compaired to the link Rhoody gave us. I paid
monthly extension fee (2 months) ...........1000 pesos (that is correct)
Monthly extension application fee..............300 pesos (that is correct)
Certification fee........................................500 pesos (that is correct)
    ACR-1 card fee......................................2249 pesos
Legal research fees 4 items)........................40 pesos (that is correct)
Express lane fee (1000 + 500).................1500 pesos (that is correct)
Now about this ACR-1 card that you said required 3 photos and a wait time of 3 weeks?
    What is that for?
Nobody said anything to me about that being a card that I would receive later.
And you say it is "good for a year". Good for what purpose?

And.........Rhoody's link says ACR Fee is only 1000 pesos but says nothing about a photo card.
Is this 2249 pesos a one-time, once a year fee, or will I be paying that again every 2 months.
    Does anyone know?

Thank you for the link to the ACR-1 card thread. I read every word ??????
And I guess the answer to my question is "no, nobody knows", because it appears that it is all subject to the whims of whoever is waiting on you at that particular moment, at that particular immigration office.
However, I will have my receipt showing that I already paid the fee with me the next time I go, and I will have 3 passport photos also.
    Thanks to all ???

ACR Fee is simply the "Alien Certificate of Registration"

The new ACR-I card is something different.

The I card is 50$ (or the equivalent in peso), so what they charged you is correct, the issue is certainly that you obviously paid but did not apply for it.

I had some issues 9 years in Mindoro, for each extension I needed to go to Batangas and of course I messed things up. The "friendly" officer told me: "Sir, you are a tourist in the Philippines, it is your duty to inform yourself how to stay here legally and what to do for that"

Well, not that I liked the answer, but he is basically correct.

One point of your story makes me wonder, if I am not mistaken you are married here, so you should have other options than the bi-monthly tourist visa.
