That is why I took a pair of suspenders and removed all the metal bits and used a string to tie them to my belt loops. LOL I just wore it under my shirt for the trip.

    He he

i agree. they should do it discreetly. i was in cebu SM last year then at the exit, the alarm sounded off. The guards immediately and politely excused the lady to kindly follow them to the verification counter. i agree on wat LP guards did to you was very wrong.. IMO

It happned to me couple of times in LP and one occassion I found later when I came home that my short pants have a bar code...and they asked me the same question too if I bought it from abroad...it was scary and worried what people think of me but they were very polite so I calmed down.

So everytime I bought new stuff, I cut off the bar codes immediately.

I think the LP scanners got an upgrade, but the guards weren't upgraded eh? This is already common when shopping or traveling, especially when hopping from one department store to the next. Ah, and the airports... terrifying when this happens to you in either HK or SG..the guards there have surgical/plastic gloves which they will smack, like a nurse, b4 laying those rubber hands on you..LoL.
Well, can't do anythin' but to enjoy the moment.. hehe

Lee will do anything to discourage business.

Not so sure about that. Some of us believe Lee will do anything to discourage business.

And not sure why his places get as much business as they do. Other, competitive, businesses; are friendlier, are more easily visited, and offer more. Why do you think that he gets as much business as he does?

    mmm Food For thought!

 Joec, I get the impression that we, the foreigner may me a little to blame for his success. We put up with a lot, that the the local will just not! I have had a few bad experiences in LP and end up saying, OH! just pay and lets go. He is the Only one really left in the City centre and so we have become a captive audience to a degree. Not sure what all the rest of you think?:(

don't know... I had many alarms going off in my 40 years... if I would be sensible like that I better don't be born...

if you have nothing to hide there is no problem opening a bag.... if you are more concerned what others think about you than you are concerned about yourself.... get a freggin' life...

well having said that, I understand it is really hard to deal with if 10 people in front of a shopping center in a provincial town of a third world country see me opening a shopping bag. ...

and whenever I register to a board, have nothing to say than a complain about people doing actually their job in the Philippines ( what is by itself a miracle), I may qualify as the happiest person worldwide....

cheers and have a great week ahead...
