Agreed. Now if you give me a dune buggy with some big tires and a good roll cage they could be lots of fun.
they do get a mention on Dutch Pickle's site here Chocolate Hills of Negros | Philippines however seeing as even Filipinos usually say that even the Bohol Chocolate Hills are a bit of an anti-climax, I would think twice about going all that way from Dumaguete on a tour where they are supposed to be one of the highlights. Much closer to Bacolod, but would be quite a long drag even from there.
All these places are really attractive and people want to spend their holidays at these places. These places bring you a better atmosphere for refreshing. My favorite is chocolate hills.
choco hills is in bohol not in negros. You can reach bohol thru fast craft in cebu that's at the pier 1.so wherever u are now, gt yourself to the island of cebu.
Welcome to the Dumaguete Forum. Before you post again please take your time to read the thread before posting: 1) Look at the date - its more than 3 month since, anyone else posted in this thread 2) It has already been clarified, that there are also Chokolate Hills - although less famous - on Negros Island 3) There is also fast craft from Dumaguete to Tagbilaran on Bohol, so no need to go to Cebu to get their. In fact the fastcraft from Dumaguete continue to Cebu after making a short stopover at Tagbilaran
Its good that you realized this yourself :-) Nobody have mentioned the limestone caves in Mabinay. I havn`t been there myself, but they are supposed to be a natural attraction on Negros as well. As for your bus, you can team up with the boat operators in Bais and offer Dolphin Watching tours to turists staying in Dumaguete or Dauin. Thats a really nice day trip actually including lunch at the white sands. From just before Mabinay there is a mostly unpaved inland road going down to Bayawan in the south of Negros. You really get to see the interior of Negros Island, and its passable by a 4X4 (I did it in a Corolla - not recommended). But if its suitable as a daytrip for turists, I am not really sure. Its long and there are not any major attractions along the route to "sell" the trip.
I'm surprised you did not stop at niludhan falls at Dawis if you drove the road from mabinay-bayawan! Best falls I have seen here. It is the second big water splash you come to on that road/track where the caribou always sat in the water!
I did not have so much time, and it started raining also. So probably I simply missed it. But it sounds to me, like there might be an idea for a 2 day nature roundtrip here: * Caves in Mabinay * Nihulan falls * That lake in the South of Negros, which has already been mentioned And then perhaps an overnight stay in a resort near Bayawan, so the trip doesn´t get to exhausting. Just a thought.
Have been there myself on 2 different occasions, not as nice as some as I have seen, but certainly worth a look, a great place to picnic at the front before or after your trek. If you don’t want to rent a head flash light you can buy a rechargeable at unitop for p105, if you think you will explore more caves.
