It is interesting to note that this McDonalds branch here in Dumaguete has been deferred for several years already. I think it is needed here because there is a growing number of people here who are from the States and other parts of the world, and seeing a very familiar restaurant wherein they can eat fast would very much help them in their stay here in Dumaguete. But then again, it would be very good if all the people staying in Dumaguete would be very vigilant and contiribute all their thoughts regarding the progress and development of the city. I guess we all don't want to reap the negative effects of development of globalization and progress.

well the yanks and other expats have to realize they are not at home and if they wish to eat this cr*p then why do they come here in the first place.
if they can't live without it then they should do us all a favour and STAY
    at HOME.
Us expats have already ruined most of costa rica, looks like Panama is next and now Dumaguete. They are already building loads of beachside property
and now we have the malls and fast food joints to accompany that.
what we all have to remember is thay we are guests in a foreign culture and if we wish to live like we do at home then we should stay there

my kids just love jollibee and are extremely excited that ronald mcdonald is also heading into town. i honestly am not a big fan of these fastfood restaurants but whenever i see that certain twinkle in my 6 year old daughter's eye at the mere mention of jollibee, i forget about everything else.

so heck if my kids love it, why should i deprive them? i hate to admit this but sometimes i use it as a motivation -- for them to do their homework, help around the house, be generally obedient. after a couple of weeks we head out for the drive thru when i believe its time for their treat. and boy, are they ecstatic. i am quite sure that somewhere along the road they are going to outgrow it anyway...

as for me, i could be content with one peach mango pie (have a sweet tooth). its the only thing i really like.

life is full of beautiful choices. thats why they are all laid there so we can exercise our right to decision making and at the end of the day, be glad with it. ideas, values, principles -- they are just not shoved down our throats. we intellectuals are given thinking tools to process these things. fastfood chains are a part of our culture now but if you're not exactly happy with it, then don't buy it.

kids will love it of course and as long as they don't eat it every week
then it should be ok although I'm sure its of no coincidence that
most kids these days are grosly overweight. I agree about choice
and thats why I say if we are allowed to shove this sh*te down our necks
why aren't wwe allowed to put drugs down there as well?
Have to ask the yanks that I guess

Perhaps it has to do with individual taste of food . I work with a brit guy ,also married to a Bicol pinay . I guess his wife has penchant for Jollibee ,as they never missed out Jollibee every time they come back on holiday .He has no mean comment for Jollibee, he just said ‘ the sausages were kind of sweeter’ …no more no less he’s fine with the new taste . Infact he said his wife cooks him sweeter pork, and he still likes it too .:D Perhaps he’s too polite and avoid making offensive comments or he might just have odd taste for a brit who likes everything put in his plate .

And that’s it, if you don’t like McDo or Jollibee, don’t go. They don’t come chasing people with their burgers and french fries or sweet spaghetti or sweet sausages and shove them down people's throats . Just respect their presence as they serve others .

I believe in freedom to choose...

If I choose to eat in McD every day so be it...

If you choose to boycott it forever... so be it..

That is basically bottom line  Not that we can change this anyways hehe

I was joking. That is what this means ---> :D

    My girlfriend eats Jollibee, I won't. I eat dog, she won't. :D

Jollibee food is geared towards the majority and that is why they continue to be successful.

I have yet to try Jollibee's hamburger (Champ?), but still curious to try. The one time I wanted it they said it would take 15 minutes  (fast food?) , so I settled for Yum Yum. If they don't have the hamburger for me to try.....I will stick with dalandan juice. :D
