Blimey ,is this somekind of disclosure … you like eating dogs ! LOLS
I was coaxed to eating dog once thinking it was of goat’s meat . It taste good because it was actually cooked nicely and you can’t tell . It was mainly lean meat cooked like kalderita way with black bean and tomato sauces ,pepper ,onions ,ginger and pineapple chunks ( it wasn’t sweet ),it was seasoned with spices and herbs ,it was just right. Not until later I tried another dish and I nearly passed out puking when I saw the teeth ,can’t believed it ,and where the tragic revelation unfolded ,that it was actually a dog’s meat I ate during lunch time ,and so was the teeth I saw gaping in the big sauce pan. How can one eat dogs gums and teeth to suck on ??? It’s unbelievably gross . One can perhaps get hooked with eating the lean dogs meat , but a ‘DOGS GUMS and TEETH ’ ,no way .

Some cultures eat spiders and bugs and call them a delicacy, so I suppose it just depends on what you are accustomed to. What you and I might call delicious, someone else will vomit back onto the plate

I ate dog during one of my trips to my girlfriends province. It was entirely my idea and sought it out. Someone was looking for a dog for me and we ended up settling for one in my girlfriend's barangay. I watched them drag it away after they killed it all up until her uncle cooked up some Doggie Adobo and it went in my belly. :D My girlfriend wouldn't even try a bite. I saw and video taped every step of the process except for the kill, only because they didn't tell me. It appeared they punctured the neck.

I felt a little sad when they did it, but I was on a mission to eat dog and stuck to it. Ate the meat and intestines......didn't see anything involving teeth or from the head for that matter.

    jollibee champ

Wak-wak, I used to work part-time at Jollibee when I was in college so I will be able to answer why the Champ takes 15 minutes to cook. You see, since the patty is so much thicker than the regular yum burger, it takes longer for it to cook. The griddle at Jollibee is basically designed for the thinner patties. It's freshly made too. It doesn't stay in the warmer so that's why they don't make it as fast as you think it should be.And when you order them, be specific with the tomatoes. Sometimes, they're not cut the right way so they look weird:smile:

Good to know some insider info. [IMG]

I was expecting it to be sitting under a heat lamp waiting for me to order it.

I am curious to try it because every time I try hamburger or ground beef in the Philippines it just doesn't taste right.....and Champ looks good in the picture too. :D Not sure where the ground beef in PI is being imported from or I have just grown used to the taste of it in the US. Maybe it's a different grade of beef and/or the conditions it is kept in somewhere in the process.

Why don't you try the chicken of Jollibee because most of the people I know go for that and not the burgers. Don't compare it to KFC though, hahaha.

On eating though wak-wak, I'd have to say 'good for you!' Other people would have shied away from it but you sought it out. Of course you had to tape the whole thing, yikes. I wouldn't have eaten it after taping it, poor thing!

there are whole sections of the markets in korea devoted to dog
and lots of american fast food there as well - wish there was a good filipino seafood restaraunt there
an example of my idea of good fast food in dumaguete is food.net near the waterfront - just grab a tray and get what you want - lots better than a burger joint
but if the kids want to go to jollibees or McD's once a week theres nothing wrong with that - just dont make me eat there

and to those bigots that make statements like " yanks are all like this" or filipinos are all like that" or jews are all this" or "blacks are like that"
or korean divers are all whatever .......
well, we all know where you are coming from and most of us would rather not hear your "opinions" - so easy to have a black and white world where you refuse to see all those annoying exceptions to your preconcieved notions
...sorry to get off topic there

    more on the champ

Actually, the patties that Jollibee uses are imported from Canada and the french fries are from Australia (when I was working there anyway). So don't fret. I'm sure that it won't be too different from the US. However, we rather prefer our meat to be well done as opposed to medium rare or something to that effect. That explains why it doesn't taste right. I thought the same way too when I came here. Your ground beef tasted weird:D So I guess it's just a matter of acquired taste, huh?

You must be speaking of some relativity of cultures. Surely other cultural groups have some practices inherent and unique to their own identity like you mentioned eating bugs and spiders as delicacy ,which must have evolved through time, survival and environmental adaptation . I visited Thailand and Myanmar and part of Africa, and have seen these delicasies coming as normal tasty snacks .Thais relish some crispy white worms , grasshoppers ,snakes etc Few ethnic groups of Uganda eat bettle’s larvae ,locusts and caterpillars, termites. All those practices are inherent element of their culture ,without passing judgement of the differences and uniqueness of each existing ways. Within those many differences one can only marvel and appreciate the beauty in the elemental variety of ways people can adopt to and live with. Making the world ever interesting and not made up of homogenous patches of millions of communities and people.

Myself have eaten a boiled flying squirrel and grilled bat when I visited Ta’ut bato of Palawan in the past. It’s an ethnic group that inhabit the middle Palawan jungle, sustaining themselves as hunter and gatherers and partly practicing slash and burn agriculture.

Ok boiled flying squirrel taste bit like chicken, fleshy part of grilled bat still can get in my throat ,but they were offered to me and at least I have a choice either to refuse or accept. And for the sake of being a polite guest , was to take them.

But speaking of the previous discussion about eating dog ,specifically the stewed chopped pieces of dog’s head which include dogs teeth and gums, absolutely NO , neither it was an act of misunderstanding nor prejudice. It is only acknowledging that we have some limitations in that regard.:(
Surely it’s a matter of perspective we see of other peoples’ different customary practices including what they put in their diet. I don’t mind what others do and eat, as long as they don’t impose their practices on me, by dishing me out unaware , tricking me to gobble some food they knew I will find revolting . I think to do that is selfish enough mainly to fuel some form of psychological amusement seeing their subject turning blue upon the dawning realization of the nasty trick. It was disgusting and wasn’t fair at all.

I can promise you many people would probably prefer eating dog mouth and spiders over a Big Mac.

My guess is that the Big Mac is less nutritious.
