Govoner I think the point is that most of us do not mind paying the 1-5 pesos and actually value their service when we do not have a cousin that is willing to stay with the bike. If we did object we would go to management, how about you? Since there seems to be only two of you that do not find this service useful or bothersome why don't you let management know?

I am with ammer on this, why bother complain to us?

thats fine, their must be a lot more crime in dumaguete than cebu as we dont need personal minders for our bikes here in cebu at the malls, i noticed security guards near the entrance, does that not satisfy you, i will contact management to see if they will compensate a bike owner when a minder drops a bike
i thought this was a forum where you could air different ideas , after all you dont have to read it

For only 1 time I want to react on this topic.
I just read it all and are surprised that within only 3 days so much can be "said" about this item "Motor bike mafia".
I don't want to attack anybody here (it has been enough already imo ) but only hope we manage to take some distance, let everyone has his own opinion and handle it on it's own way.
No need to convince another. We never will all have the same opinions.
More on-topic...... I pay dependend of:
    -my mood
-my wallet situation (how many coins and what value of the coins)
-the guy who takes my motorbike (the more friendly the higher likely the rewards)
    -the weather (?????)
-the time I have left the motorbike there (1 minute or.....1 hour ?)
-how quick they responded when I came back
    -etc....
I think I'm gonna make a software program to calculate the amount I want to give them after having given scores on all my criteria :D:D
Foreigner, tourist, resident, local, what the hell ......everybody does what he/she thinks is OK for you. Paying/ not paying/ going around the block/ taking a trike in future / .........
And if not ? No....I won't say what you could do best then

you guys make it sound like its a quaint little custom, part of the touristy feel of dumaguete, its not, you dont get a choice, pay or or bike will be damaged sooner or later by the mafia.]

    Real agenda?

Good luck with that, I do not know of a single mall or store in the world that will compensate for alleged damage done in a parking lot.

We are considering different ideas and it looks like most of us do not object to bike minders. The security guards cannot be everywhere at once, I'm sure the shop owners would prefer that they stay near the stores and not the parking lots.

    Crystal clear now.

There it is, I was wondering when the conspiracy theory was going to be revealed.

if an employee or contractor for robinsons damages a bike they would be responsible, or are you saying these guys are just riff raff off the street who
say park here and then hold out their hand, i would be surprised if robinsons would put up with that.
the days i was their the guards were outside the front door looking straight at the bike area

    business opp

If I don't want to risk having my bike vandalized (flat tires, sugar in tank, slashed seat, broken lights, severed brake lines, and a million other possibilities. I suppose it's better to pay....:(

Hey now that gives me an idea! Maybe I can start a business of.....say, to protect mall patrons bikes from the minders? At 5p a pop, it's cheap for the patrons & it could mean thousands of pesos a day for me....and likely more on weekends and holidays! Wait.....I could protect cars too! I'll charge 10p a car...... How's that? If they don't want to pay? Well, if that's the case I cannot be held responsible if anything happens to those cheapskate's vehicles...sh&t, weird & crazy things happens all the time inside a parking lot, right??

Umm....does that make me an extortionist? Shoot, it's only 5p for crying out loud...ya cheap b@st@rd!
