I will be in Dumaguete City in November, and I was wondering if any one has hiked Mount Talinis? Is this a trip that can be done in one day? Thanks, Robs
Hello, Spent a lot of my 2 week visit on the slopes of this mountain. LOWER slopes, and in Valencia region. I will post on my visit in another post, in this forum I think, my pics are probably too big to post, but I will try, too much data per photo. ! meg or more, but dang; are they nice! This mountain gets very up and down once you get higher up, I mean REAL STEEP. Unless you are in real good shape, I seriously doubt it could be done in one day. You could go into the Twin Lakes region, and perhaps hike up to the top, and then try to pick a way down..he he. I would think you will be trying to SLOW your descent though. It is VERY steep mountain, and all the undergrowth, and extra rain it gets, well it would be quite an adventure I would think. Anyhow, maybe one of the locals knows of a trail or two, I did not.. it was very difficult going for me. Good luck. Pravdaseeker
There is a good trail from the end of the Lipayo crossing road...near Dauin. Best to do the hike late afternoon -evening. Hike approx 6 hours, take a nap and then see a great sunrise. You can also go via Casiroro waterfall area. Best would be to hire a local guide, sherpa, from Dumaguete. ps...make sure you bring good hiking boots,, sandals will not work !!
please let me know when u are planing to hike so that i could ask a friend who is a hiking enthusiast. . im sure he would love to take you to Mt. talinis for free...he hikes to mt talinis and spends the night there once a month...maybe you will get lucky and decides to take you... ive been to mt talinis a couple of times before, and it sure is such a great feeling to reach the top...i doubt if i could still do it now..hehehe
